2.009b Hot Fix after Performance went back older version.

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I was very happy with performance (frame rate) of 2.009 version.

There is issue in map icon, 2D display HUD.

but performance is amazingly enhanced.

I can have more frame rate than older version.

and there is no more micro stutter and screen tearing.

but after 2.009b Hot Fix. Performance went back.

There is still micro stutter and screen tearing.

I heard about displaying 2D is very difficult technique in 3D world.

but I think 3D (flying in cockpit) very more important than 2D map scrolling.

and I want more performance than icon in map. (I don't even need that.)

I want performance of 2.009 version not 2.009b.

Please~~ Fix this Things~! :D

your fps is all subjective, anything above 35 fps is truly unnoticable unless you're superman?

the lag if anything you're experiencing is more than likely from CPU to GPU bottlenecks; or CPU isn't keeping up with the processing of the game's calculations, causing the the CPU to slow the other calculating process, which makes it look like you're having GPU issues.

screen tearing is from not running Vsync.

micro stuttering is from our processor not keeping up.

Hard drive caching, not enough ram, using hard drive for ram cache.

all kinds of difrent things could be a problem, even a hard drive going out will cause your system to warp..

How "fast" you see is dependent on brightness. Only in dank movie theaters, your "personal FPS" goes down toward the 20 or so range. Still, 24 FPS result in hideous flickering when the camera pans sideways. This makes the typical pilots view acceptable at, say, 30 FPS, but as soon as you pan your view sideways, you will notice the stutter. I finf this especially ugly when using TrackIR in Prepar3D, where 30 FPS is not bad if you have a dense scenery. So I stopped using TrackIR there.

Another issue is the "sim unfriendly" V-Sync, G-Sync etc. With V-Sync, as soon as your FPS drops to 59 or less, it will force 30 FPS until you system can reach 60 FPS again. You do notice these slowdowns as occasional flicker. Of course this will happen in the worst moments "when things are going on". What is worse, screen tearing or more of the stutters, you decide (and use or don't use V-Sync).

The other "Sync's" don't work well below 60 FPS and certainly don't work at all below 30 FPS. They are made for fast shooters, not flight simulators.

Micro stutters have all kind of causes. A common one is the switch between 60, 30 or 15(!) FPS (29 FPS will produce 15 FPS on you screen), another one is a GPU bottle neck when the GPU is loading a scene. CPU load spikes are rare and typically do not produce such artefacts. Microstutters are the cures of FSX and simulators like it.

If you experience them in BoX, you should consider going down with GPU load and adjust settings for that. Besides, check what other things your system is doing while you are playing.

This is entirely untrue and I'm not sure why its propagated so heavily.

The stuttering can't be accounted to any single thing. Some users with high end CPUs experience it too.

HDD caching? Good god, I hope (I know...) 777 is smarter than caching to disk storage.

This would be a case where asking for system specs would actually be useful information.

not at all, I'm referring to people using their HDD as a VRAM..

well I'm not sure what happened but the 2009b was great with the sharpen filter active and it looked great and flew very well in MP. started the game again this morning and 2009c was loaded and the graffics went back to what they were before 2009.

same tree circle and shimmering just out side of the circle again!! dam it was working soo good too.

also noticed GPS on maps was broken in WOL server after flying for 30 minutes and then the server crashed.

Dont know what was changed between B and C but B had better visuals and was smoother in MP with TIR

Same Here. this fix, 2.009b and c, return the stuttering..

I felt increased TIR 'jitter' (even with constant FPS) with all 2.009 versions, mostly when looking at dense clouds or near/between them.

I have reduced the jitter by setting FPS limit in Nvidia Inspector.

I have to agree with these findings.

Yesterday I played RALLY Dirt in a long time.

Frame Drop occasionally happened and Stutter happened, too.

That didn't happened before. so I tried to find out what causes that.

Finally I found my cause of Stuttering.

That is Force Feedback issue.

(I don't know what update involved in Force Feedback)

Plug out my MS FFB2, Frame rate went to normal, and stuttering is gone.

So I tested in IL-2 BOS, I turned off Force Feedback option. everything went to Normal.

Very Smooth Head Tracking and there is no Stuttering any more.

But no force feedback means no center springs.

I considered how to center spring without force feedback option.

Reading in ATAG forum, I read about ForceTest Program.

So now I run ForceTest before IL-2 BOS launch.

Check Spring Center and playing IL-2 BOS.

(I lose gun fire and stall shaking, but I don't care about this.)

This way works well and I'm very happy with this.

and Here are my gear list.

Windows 10. Intel i7-7700k, Samsung 16GB, Gigabyte 1070 GTX, Gigabyte B250M-D2V,

Track IR 4, MS FFB2, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder,

From the annoucement:

6. Clouds detail increased for Ultra graphics preset;

You may want to try High instead. I'm using VR, and I had to leave the Ultra settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried, but jitter was worse in High than in Ultra in clouds. FPS were always stable at 60 in both cases (with VSync) but smoothness felt much more irregular in High (no idea why). Setting Nvidia Inspector's FPS limiter @58 Hz helped a lot, flying is fine again for me. The new in-game FPS target does not help, it does not seem to work in the same way as the Inspector's FPS limiter.

That is Force Feedback issue.

That's a problem when using TIR + FFB in BoS or RoF. If you want to keep your FFB effects you can enable FFB and set in-game Camera smoothness between 90-100. It makes TIR movements more sluggish but removes the stuttering.

ROFL  Really?

https://frames-per-second.appspot.com/

http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/196406-retinal-jiggles-why-your-eyes-and-brain-strongly-prefer-games-at-60-fps

etc. etc. etc.

Any gamer should already know this stuff tbh.

Also, it's been said over and over again that for VR you need at least 90fps.

So why would that be, if only superhumans can see above 35fps?

LOL

:salute:
