Devs, any plans to make game compatible with Gametrix jetseat?

Recommended Posts

Congratulations on, and thanks for the new VR update it is wonderful. Hope everyone who is enjoying VR now should write a review and express their gratitude.

One thing though that would make it even better would be if like DCS it supported the Gametrix jetseat. I think the jetseat dev said something like they havent got access to your data so can not get it to work. Are there any plans to get something going with them? Ity's a russian company too...

It works with a software called simshakers for aviators, it provides all sorts of sensations, you can feel the cannons, engines, afterburner and your wheels touching down on the ground etc. Think it would really take BOS to a level of close to perfect!

Please, please please, pretty please, with a cherry on top.

i believe that's not possible because of conflicting USB ports for force feedback.

Other games seem to be able to do both. I wonder what the issue is ?

We have no current plans to support this. We only have so many hours in the day to support what we have already committed to.

+1 for this.

Really would be nice if IL team completed the circle now with support for tactile feedback. With VR, the feedback really takes you over the edge of immersion and really compliments VR.

Please consider this.

I had to look it up. Didn`t know it existed.

That's the problem of JetSeat, little know and little availability, manufactured in few batches to be sold exclusively in CIS market (Russia e some countries), native supported only by War Thunder/WoT (to take advantage of ~2010 WT "hype") - a guy create a software to add support for DCS, FSX, CLoD (in this prevents use FFB joystick simultaneous) and some racing games.

At end 2016 was rumored that production stop - due poor sales - but is again available, now with with delivery for Europe.

Hi chaps,

I got it since 2 weeks now - I ordered it online (www.gametrix.eu) and received it flawless after 4 days. Nice feature, although not supported for BOS at the moment. But there is

a chance that it will be supported like DCS and CLOD. The guy who created the software for DCS stated, he will have a look for what is feasible and what not.

In the meantime I just enjoy to switch it on after I started my LA5 only to feel that big radial engine shaking my cockpit. I directly stapled the JetSeat on my wooden cockpit seat

so it's fixed firmly and does not move at all.

Cheers

I have one of these and it works like a charm for VR.

The seat works in 2 ways,

1st, Audio passthrough mode. This works just like a butt kicker by picking up the lower frequency sounds and having the 8 transducers vibrate based on that audio. I currently use mine like this with BoS in VR with my rift by connecting it to a 3.5mm Audio output from my motherboard. Steam VR puts out the sound to the JetSeat and then duplicates the Audio to my Rift. That way I don't get vibrations from Team speak when my Virtual Wingmen talk to me :)

With Audio mode, it works with anything, but you only get a 'generalised' feedback with all 8 transducers doing the same thing. That said, it's better than not having it at all. It also drastically reduces motion sickness in VR, and I feel that I can expose myself to much longer VR sessions with it than without it.

2nd, USB mode. This is not a Force Feedback device, it's an independent output device. With DCS for example, the simulator outputs telemetry data via an export Lua, and this can be interpreted by 3rd party software to make the transducers in the seat work.

With the second mode Andre's SimShaker software reads this telemetry data output by the game (DCS, FSX, Project Cars, Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa, the list goes on and on) and passes commands to the transducers independently to mimic effects.

With the A-10C in DCS for example, I feel a thump under my knees as the nose gear comes up, and then a quick 'thump, thump' in my left and right kidneys as the left and right main gear comes up. His software is FANTASTIC. I can feel stalls approaching, I can feel speed buffeting, I can feel the bumps in the tarmac as I'm rolling down the runway getting faster and faster and then disappear as I lift off.

Best of all, it allows you to tweak the values to your liking if you feel something is too strong, or not strong enough...

It's one of the best investments I've made into my flight simming habit and I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you have VR!

This would be great if it was possible ...Audio is better than nothing I guess ....

Hi guys,

Bearing in mind IL-2 API announced along with BoK, I'd like to say the following.

To support IL-2 BoS(M,K) in SimShaker and provide immersing FXs, those helps to avoid or significantly reduce a nausea in VR,

actually we need as little as access to some  IL-2 data:

  • gun fire and pay-load release (left/right/middle side) data (работа вооружения, включая пушки,пулеметы, сброс бомб, пуск РС с разделением на лево/право/центр и. т.п. );
  • engine(s) attributes MP, RPMs, MW, AB (параметрые работы двигателя(ей) - наддув, обороты, форсаж при наличии);
  • landing gear state (положение шасси);
  • landing gear shock absorbers contraction (степень сжатия амортизаторов шасси);
  • flaps and air brake position (положение щитков/закрылков/воздушного тормоза);
  • damages (повреждения);
  • IAS (приборная скорость);
  • altitude above the ground (высота над уровнем земли);
  • accelerations (ускорения по 3 осям);
  • roll (крен);
  • AoA (угол атаки);
  • shake intensity, if possible (сила тряски, вибрации, по возможности).

Data should be provided even if some gauges are damaged or broken.

SimShaker software supports not only JetSeats, but bass-shakers as well.

It's a great kit for VR immersion

  • 4 weeks later...
Posted (edited)

I got my Jetseat last week and I've tried it out a bit in DCS and IL2. Ordering was easy and delivery really fast. Didn't have to pay taxes either, which saved me about 60 euro.

In DCS where usb mode is supported, it's just great. Helps with flying and improves on immersion. I would easily recommend the Jetseat to anyone for DCS.

In IL2 where usb mode is not yet supported, it's really more of a constant rumble. It gives some feeling of sitting in a plane, but after a while my butt gets a little sore, which is not really what I'm looking for after a long night in an all-male enviroment...

I hope the devs will take the time to give Andre the data he needs to make IL2 support the Jetseat.

Edit:

Seems like I had to pay taxes anyway, about 75 euro. Still, the seat is definetively worth it. At least if you're flying DCS.

Really like mine in DCS .adds more for me than a ffb stick ever did ...really adds to the immersion ..Hope we get it for BoX  in the BoK update !

Oh my goodness yeah I have been reading the praises of this over on the DCS forums of late as well, I really do not need to spend any more money at this time but it is so tempting - got to quit reading these topics lol.

I guess if IL-2 throws in support at some point I may have to throw in the towel.

Guys, please realise that 1CGS will never add support for the JetSeat, but adding the API (already announced) will make it possible for 3rd parties to add such a support, as well as many other features.

Ask for the versatile API first, not JetSeat support.

+1 for this.

One feature I would like in the 3rd app software would be the ability to "feel" the side slip. I don't understand we don't have peripheral for this yet. It's so important especially for WWII birds.

Then it won't just be a peripheral for "cool immersion" but also a real flight peripheral as our hotas, track IR are.

I see Side Slip as the most important, then AOA. Then could come the rest imo.

Thx in advance for your work on this :)

Sim racers have on their rigs some motor moving the back of the rig left and right to simulate sidewise skidding.

I think we could just start vibrate left or right side of the JetSeat  proportionally to the ball inclination in order to designate side sleep. I think it has little in common with real life feeling, but could be informative without keeping an eye on the ball.

Well, I thought that wasn't done because of the lack of telemetry informations for side-slip (talking about DCS). That is the ONLY thing missing in the whole thing I think, and it would be a major upgrade to have it for sure!   ;)

Talking about SimShaker for DCS World, initially I had intention to do that, but a real life pilot said me it would have little in common with real life feeling. I abandon it, but technically that may be easy to implement.

I hope announced BoK pit-builders oriented API will expose information about the ball as well.

I don't know about the real life feeling of plane side slip, but I'm pretty sure 109/190 pilots don't have to monitor the ball in a dive/climb in order to know how much pressure to apply on the pedals. It's especially hard with constant speed propeller.

It's more a need for flying than a wish for immersion to me.

Edit, I hope you 3rd app dev will give us the option to choose :)

Looks like we have a big problem, guys, who wants not just to see but feel as well, during in flight.

I've been waiting for announced API implementation to access plane telemetry data in IL-2 Sturmovik and convert it to vibrationg FSx, but still no sign of API on the horizon.

More over, I cant find a topic where the API was announced along with the BoK.

I already can't see it in the IL-2 Sturmovik Forum → IL-2 Sturmovik → Announcements section of the forum

A link on IL-2 FB page forwarding to that announcement is broken.

Is that a Fair Play, gentlemen from IL-2 team, your were appealing us to?

It would be so great to get this going for IL-2.  The FF seat cushion and software from Andre is fantastic for immersive flying and feeling the force!

Please IL-2 dev's, help enable us to feel the force with help from Andre and for us to be able to fly by the seat of our pants.  :)

Happy landings,

Dutch2, you don't have to look that far for an example. Not such a long time ago one of my favourite flightsims had broken VR support because Oculus dropped support for DX9. We heard the same: we need all time for more important features and can't loose on ressources by migrating to DX11. Today, can you imagine ANY flightsim without VR?

BTW, I didn't mention the name of that flightsim, youll know it. Gives me hope for a change of mind...
