JG54_Hahn Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) Brief description: FPS drop as soon as i put on my VR headsetDetailed description, conditions: Im expericing some very strange behavior with my oculus rift CV1 I noticed when playing i cant really get over 45ish fps. So i reduced my setting and still getting 45ish fps. I can play on Ultra or low the results are the same with only ~35% GPU and 40% CPU usage. So i started it up again after a reboot and i noticed, when i first start the game through SteamVR and not put on the glasses, i get 90fps and the acording GPU usage. I continued to a test flight and i got 90 when looking at my screen. As soon as i put on my Oculus the fps and GPU usage drop to 45. I disabled ASW via the Oculus debug tool and got the same thing. Disableing the HUD got a pretty good fps increase. the fps now go to 60-70ish. CPU & GPU usage are still pretty bad GPU now goes to ~50% and CPU to 40% Playing without the VR headset results in 120+ FPS Additional assets (videos, screenshots, logs): Your PC config data (OS, drivers, specific software): i7 4790k @ Stock speed Gainward GTX 1080 16GB of RAM Win 10 Home (more specific data in the DxDiag below) DxDiag.txt Edited April 13, 2017 by JG54_Hahn
Slugga Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 also seeing this.. similar specs. win10 gtx1080, Only happening on my Oculus rift, doesn't happen on my VIVE, seems like something to do with ATW throttling. Clean win10 install, re-installed to get BoS working. So it's the only thing on this system so far.
l4dfanatic Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 similar issue, 59/60 fps in normal mode, and 29/30 in VR mode, using a vive. target fps is shaded out in VR, and does not change my fps in normal mode, always capped at 60

Slugga Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Did reinstalling bos solve it ? Still having performance issues, but after re-installing Win10 and BoX, i was no longer getting a CTD issue. So it did solve that.
susleg Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Same problem.CPU: i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz Video: ASUS ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-GAMING RAM: 16GB OS: Win 10 Pro Without Oculus at 2560x1440 with all settings at max stable 144 fps. With Oculus at minimum settings FPS mostly stays at 45 with periodic jump to 90 fps. (fps measured using ingame fps counter)
desigabri Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) This is mine:CPU: FX-8350 4GHzRAM: 32GBOS: Win7 64VR:Oculus DK2and my new GTX-1080 bought just for the new VR implementation of IL2 Sturmovik (before this I had a Crossfire of 2xHD7970)whitout a good benchmark test, I tried some configurations to compare them and these are my results. The results couldn't be really comparable, but because they look very similar for all settings, then I think that the subjectivity of the results is minimal OFFLINE, 1 vs 1, MOSCOW AUTUN without Oculus: and then with Oculus:The only configuration that let me fly at 75Hz (DK2 works at 75Hz not 90Hz)is 640x480 with all settings at LOW and minimal. Anyway I still get 37Hz at low altitudes just 1mt over the top of the forestes.I can get 75Hz also at higher configurations but the only one that looks pretty conforthable is this. CPU: never over 20% GPU: max 55% without Oculus with Oculus not more then 40% when I get 75Hz with Oculus always less then 30% usage when I get 37Hz BUS: always less then 11% FB: always less then 22% Finally: Is there the possibility to complitely disable the GRAPHICAL VIEW on the monitor during the fly (I mean all calculations related to this graphical output), like the "H" key used to disable the HUD? I get more FPS in VR mode lowering settings from 1920x1080 to 640x480 so may be that we can gain some more FPS turning this output off (if one wants it)? I'm very happy to this unexpected feature (strongly wanted but until now always skipped). All looks very very nice and gorgeous to play with, but at the same time I can not stand low performances in VR. The programmers have done really a good job. I thing it is the best title of the ones I tried and think that I bought DK2 only in the Hope it worked in IL2. I hope they'll still put some more work to optimize the performances. desigabri Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) after having received the latest patch (2.010) for the thirth time (I tried and tested it, but after one day or two I received the patch again (120MB) and after that I received another time it again (34x MB). Why I received it in threee elapsed times? anyway after the latest update I checked the game and I played 37 hz at 640x480 at minimal settings or unselected. I was very hungry but I rebooted my pc and then the game started playing well at all screen resolutions. So I tried the game up to 1920x1080 and I played everywhere and for all the time at 75hz. Then I turned on "SSAO" and "HDR" and I got my 37hz at low altitudes . I tried screen resolution setted to 1440x900 and I played OFFLINE 75hz everyplace again. I don't know if it's due to the patch or may be that I've other problems about some service or driver. Is there anyone that found alternated results in their game performance? Looking at the performance monitor I found the CPU working costantly at low percentage and when GPU worked at 37hz The GPU power was lower too, just a little CPU boost when GPU started working 37hz. I couldn't find any cause about the low power use. Edited May 20, 2017 by desigabri
