If anyone has any crazy ideas, please do let me know.  I'll try anything at this point.

 

In the mean time I'll just have to wait to hear back from support.  Incredibly frustrated.

you on steam or PC version. 

 

you're getting the login error too?

Are you behind a router ? What firewall ? Anti-virus and Defender are off ?

Yep, on Steam.  I've tried everything suggested so far, disabled firewalls/AV completely to no avail.

  Are you sure its running as admin rights?

 

    Even though I had the firewall taken care of, the right rules etc it wasnt until I forced it to run as administrator that it got past this issue.

Yep, positive.

 

The funny thing is, if I put the wrong password in it tells me so, so evidently there's some communication going on with a server somewhere :)

try making sure steam is also being allowed through the firewall as well. And check steam on the exclusions too. Also try to delete the start up cnf file and restart the game, you will have to reset up your login and settings for graphics Edited by 71st_AH_Mastiff

Tried this also.  Still no luck this morning, and I've not heard back from support yet.  Frustrating.

can you try running the exe outside of steam? make a direct exe shortcut, if this doesn't work try verifying integrity files, have it remake the steam shortcut and try that?

 

I have 3 versions, and only seen this issue with steam once but I can't remember what I did to make it work it was something with the firewall is all I can remember ATM.

 

make sure your firewall settings is correct and make sure not double blocking, go through and edit each firewall setting for allow and blocking.

 

you can also delete those setting and start over with the windows firewall.

Open startup.cfg and check wether your e-mail is set under login and your password under password on top of the file:

are you running VR? make sure that's off in steam as well.

Thanks, it isn't a cfg issue.  Yeah I'm running VR, but I've deleted SteamVR as well as disabled my VR devices.  Don't think there's anything more I can do, I'll just wait to see if support responds.

Just heard back from support, who replied with the exact same message I got yesterday.

 

HOWEVER!  I just tried to log in again and it was successful!  I didn't change a thing on my end.  I wonder if there was some strange issue with my account that they were able to look at.

 

Anyway, thanks to everyone here for being kind enough to try and help me.  I'm just delighted to have finally got in!

Good news! I had wondered if there was a problem with your user account (not password related).

 

Hopefully the problems are completely solved and you can dive in and have some fun with IL-2. It's really superb!

I am a new user and have read this thread and others since I am having the same issue. I have tried all the suggested fixes to the #2 error (e.g. firewall, anti-virus, admin mode, remove nvidia experience) I submitted a ticket, so hopefully will get some input. Really looking forward to trying out the game in VR. I expect it may have something to do with being a new user and lots of folks downloading or updating their IL2 (master server traffic)? My specs are similar to Baka's: Windows 10 Z170; i7 6700K (4.6 GHz Overclock) Quad H115i; 32GB HyperX DDR4 SDRAM 2666MHz; 8GB Zotac AMP Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080; Oculus Rift CV1; Warthog HOTAS.

 

Hope to get this figured out soon!
