HagarTheHorrible Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 It's difficult to convey the beauty of this sim, especially the cockpits, in VR without actually being in VR. I don't have Gear or Cardboard so I'm not entirely sure what hey're capable of but wouldn't it be an idea to have some ability to see panable stills or videos on these more widely accessible devices ?
dburne Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Possibly, not sure of the intricacies of capturing true 3d images or video, I would think it could be done somehow.
OrLoK Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Some games can spit out the HMD view to the monitor which can be recorded and then viewed on cardboard etc. It works well. But even then you still don't quite get the feel of being there. http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/nnam/virtualtour/?s=pano346 these are fun..
=IL2AU=chappyj Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) You can actually turn gear or cardboard into a budget hmd. Use a combo of a screen mirror like teamviewer and an open source app like ppjoy or open track from memory U can then get the gyro from the phone and feed it to the game as a teackir input. While the image is displayed in the gear vr through teamviewer I got this to work in star citizen about 2 years ago for example Edited April 13, 2017 by =WFPK=chappyj
