SYN_Skydance Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I'm using a Vive ATM. Screen resolution has a way to go with the current VR headsets available but don't let that put you off, the immersion is far greater than a standard monitor. I've had my Vive for some time now but I still enjoy flying RoF on my monitor. Flying mp with others using VR is fun but I can imagine competing on a servers with people using monitors and trackir could be a bit of a challenge.
Blutaar Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 (edited) I would like to buy VR but to expensive at the moment if i wanna also have the best possible frames in all kind of games, i try to wait till the next generation. My advantage is that i never tried VR so im a virgin and dont really know how great it is but i have a good imagination and think it must be the best in the world for the Flighsim genre, 10x more immersive then TrackIR at its time. Im glad for the lucky ones who can have fun with VR now, hope you enjoy it much and have a great experience, must be awesome. Edited April 14, 2017 by Ishtaru

Jade_Monkey Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I got the HTC Vive the day the update came out. Coincidence? I dont think so.
pilotpierre Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Not yet, will wait until its fine tuned a bit more. I also have not tried it but that's on the agenda fairly soon.
Slugga Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) i remember similar sentiments about triple screens, track IR and crossfire/sli back in the day, on a bunch of sim titles people getting all shirty that devs were spending time on such a stupid thing that no one has... here we are again with VR edit: ohhh yep VR owner... Both VIVE and Oculus... VR update got this game back in my cross-hairs. I can't play any sim with out them now. it a terrible burden Edited April 16, 2017 by Slugga
BMW801 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Slugga, Since you have both, do you have a preference for one vs the other?
Yogiflight Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Not in the budget in the near future. I will need a better PC for this. Maybe the next generation.
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Slugga, Since you have both, do you have a preference for one vs the other? I used triple screen with TrackIR, there's no comparison between it and VR.
BMW801 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I may be slow on the uptake, but no comparison meaning VR is better or triple screen is better? I am about to be a VR headset and I was wondering if I should get Oculus or Vive
dburne Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I am about to be a VR headset and I was wondering if I should get Oculus or Vive Good comparison here: http://www.techradar.com/news/wearables/htc-vive-vs-oculus-rift-1301375 I got my Rift in mid Jan, and have been very pleased with it.
chiliwili69 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 A poll would have been better to post maybe but I don't know if I can or how lol. Last January I created a poll to follow exactly what you want to know: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/27278-about-vr-and-vr-devices-used/ All of you who wants to be counted please participate
Guest deleted@30725 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Contact Microsoft. I'm sure with all the telemetry from my windows 10 system they can probably tell you what I had for breakfast and how long I sat on the toilet.
Maxiku Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I have the HTC Vive and bought 96 VR games from Steam to go with it. A lot of those games are dross but there are some stand-out ones. Vanishing Realms is fantastic, Bullet Sorrow is a lot of fun and Sairento is a great laugh. There are plenty more good games, plus Google Earth is a real tour-de-force. If you can afford to buy a VR set, then I think you'll get your money's worth but (as with most things in life) the longer you wait, the cheaper it will be and there will be a lot more games for it....(and the resolution will be better.) If you do buy one, give me a shout and I'll tell you what games I think are worth the cash. ps: Horror games on VR are truly scary. Putting that headset on makes it so damn real that I can imagine heart attacks are gonna happen. Can't wait until the VR version of Resident Evil 7 hits the PC. pps: IL2 in VR is a work of art. It's the flight sim I have been dreaming of for 20+ years. On my first flight I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat!
Cdr_Instigator Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I just got the game and I to have the Oculus Rift CV1... Starting the game up for the first time since I last played the original 10+ years ago!

Slugga Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Slugga, Since you have both, do you have a preference for one vs the other? I've had both since launch. But yes, For Simming the Oculus is slightly better because of the head strap, but that is it. How ever the current BoS implementation is a little off at the moment for Oculus, So I am using my VIVE. As far as the rest of VR goes, Vive wins hands down in almost every aspect other than convenience items like head strap. (that will change with the pro headstrap being released) seriously its not even a competition on room scale tracking. Oculus dun stuffed up.. TLDR: I like comfort/convenience of Oculus for simming, how ever if I could only own 1 it would be VIVE.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 HTC Vive here. Mashed that buy button the minute it became available.
