216th_Jordan Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 You are running on a CPU that is 5 generations old with a bad IPC and fairly low Ghz. This sim used 10 times more physics than GTA V, and physics need processor power. You got a nice 1070 but it does not help you with a severe CPU bottleneck. 1
E69_Cananas Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) He doesn't want to understand that. Someone has told to OC his CPU to 4 GHz (with a 2600K is easy and secure, infact), and he would see a better performance for sure. But IMHO, he is the kind of person that don't like to do things by himself. Edited April 12, 2017 by E69_Cananas 1
Lusekofte Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Well this is typical 2 sides to explain he got a crappy pc, For me latest update was the least interesting, but you shall not have too much going on in your head to realise it´s importance for the sim
kendo Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Just have to make a comment here. Those people putting the blame for this issue on the OP having a 'crappy PC' are way off the mark. 16Gb of RAM and a gtx1070???? As for the processor, the i7-2600k is still up there as a VERY capable processor. (See Tom's Hardware best gaming processors rankings March 2017 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html It's in the 2nd tier out of 13. "Currently, our hierarchy consists of 13 total tiers. The bottom half of the chart is largely outdated; you'll notice those CPUs dragging down performance in the latest games, regardless of the graphics card installed in your PC. If you own a CPU in that range, an upgrade could really take your gaming experience to another level. Really, it's the top five tiers or so that remain viable. And in that top half of the chart, an upgrade is typically worthwhile if it's a least a couple of tiers higher. Otherwise, there's just not enough improvement to warrant the expense of a fresh CPU, motherboard and memory." I personally am running the game on Ultra at 1680x1050 with an i5-2500k and a gtx 1060 and getting good performance. The issue here might be the slow internet connection. Also you might try updating or reinstalling graphics drivers. Helped me recently. Finally a word to the OP. You really don't help your cause with such a belligerent attitude. 1

Those people putting the blame for this issue on the OP having a 'crappy PC' are way off the mark. 16Gb of RAM and a gtx1070???? I don't know how you get to that. 16gb and 1070 is very nice generally, but it does not help you if the sim needs more CPU power, especially when there are action packed campaign scenarios to be loaded and played. Most people tend to just look at the Clock frequency, but this really does not tell you all that much about the power of the CPU. The increase of IPC on the new 7th generation Intel CPU (7xxx Series) is up to 70% higher than on the I7-2600k. (that means that in the worst case an I7-2600k would have only about 2.35 Ghz if measured by I7-7xxx series standards with 4 Ghz) Additionally what should not be forgotten: old and new hardware mixed will often cause problems/stutters, been through that often enough sadly. Btw: The I7-2600k is from Q1 2011. To OP: If you decide to go for a new CPU/Mainboard the 6xxx series is the best to choose at the moment as increases have been very shallow to the 7xxx series. Or wait for the new 10 nm architecture. Edited April 12, 2017 by 216th_Jordan

1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 If I would be you I would audit my PC during that massive fps drops - it's not normal. This task need some IT skills so you might ask some tech/support person to do it for you.
Jason_Williams Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Guys, I can't diagnose what the OP has going on, but one thing to remember. If you are on the Moscow Map and you have stutters, remember that we have a buggy situation with our large "circular" airfields on that map. We did not build the textures in an efficient way and there are too many of them and most cards choke on the fill rate causing stutters. We will eventually remedy this, but for now its an issue we are aware of and know the cause. We're using the Kuban map building process to find a solution for Moscow. Stalingrad and Luki maps are fine. When you build maps as fast as we do, sometimes you end up with such issues. Jason 9
NewfieDunfielder Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Every one crapping on my CPU needs to get real. It's a legend. I built this rig five years ago and I'm by no means afraid or incapable of putting an OC on it. But it been kicking ass ever since I built it. The old gtx 680 soc had to be retired so I popped in a 1070 and it kept on kicking ass. If you assume I don't do my own work and fiddling in settings you'd be wrong. Then enter clod, il2 bos and bom. Hadn't played a flight sim since microprose stealth fighter. Saw vids on YouTube and said that looks awesome let's get them. All by the same company. I get issues all of a sudden. If it wasn't for TF fixing clod it'd be garbage period. But it runs smoothly as long as I kill radio chatter. Funny il2 1946 is the same. Bos and bom if I run v-sync off and frame limiter off I'll cruise at 185 155 fps sometimes dropping to 85 or 95 but every so often for no apparent reason ie planes around or big explosions it hits 5 fps for a second. Obviously this tears the living crap out of the image on my 60hz monitor so I play v sync enabled. My question is how can it run so good then trip up in its own two feet. If my CPU was truly a bottleneck how would it run so well at all. I'm no computer guru but I am able to get things done on a pc. And as for calling out developers well I purchased their product and more probably a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff. So I do support them very much, but as a customer who is having issues with a game at ALL settings, that has a recommended system minimum well below what I have is a piss off. Yakdriver Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I'm not dismissing others opinions. Just stating a I'd be willing to bet 90 percent or more who own this game DONT have VR. Anyone who thinks it's the next big thing may be right but not in the next 5 to 10 years mark my word. Just like Motion controls on consoles a fad, a gimmick not future proofing anything. In five years I bet the number of VR gamers will still be a minority. My opinion only you don't have to agree. I'm old enough to remember buying things that worked no fuss no muss. And i mean old I had an x86 in 88 Whatever happened to those days? You d be willing to bet you have no numbers you rant you are pissed off you only have your own opinion that matters to you how about you get a sock and use your hands to get your hormones in balance. then come back with a clear mind. jesus!
