Ok, without a doubt, the most beautiful VR experience is the He-111

Always thought that this was one of the most beautiful aircraft of the era, but never really felt drawn to fly it very much.

Until today.

Just could not get enough of flying this bird in VR.

That big glasshouse cockpit, the sense of space etc. all made me want to do nothing else but sightseeing low and slow across the gorgeous Russian countryside for hours!

"That big glasshouse cockpit" Agreed. If you get the chance try the virtavia B-29 in P3D in VR.

Ah, the B-29 ... easily the top contender for most beautiful aircraft of the era next to the He-111! Don't have P3D, so cannot check it out, but good to know it exists!

Yup, the He111 is fantastic¨and scarry at the same time. Was sooo loking forward to flying it, so great to have it in VR now :)
The Ju88 and the Pe2 are also very nice.

Being a Heavy driver and a fan of the 111, that was the first one I wanted to test! I had to do some others before I could get in the 111. Like you I was blown away by the cockpit, I could cruise around for hours just sightseeing in it.

I'm used to DCS VR so the wow factor had worn off a little. Then I got in BOS VR and the wow is right back!

I like the He 111, one of my favourite aircraft. I particularly like flying low to bomb trains, which quite a few He 111 units started to do on the Eastern Front. However,I generally find that bombing the factory that almost every multiplayer server has does not really do any long-term damage, so it is more for fun and to get an insanely high amount of ground kills with the earthquake bombs.

i dont think Ive posted this here yet (apologies if I have), but it shows how blimmin nice the he111 is in VR, but, it also shows the gunner position issues which make them a little...unwieldy at this stage.

Im blown away at how nice VR is in Il2, plus it's had the added bonus of forcing me to use instruments which is painful but super.

EDIT: oops I had already posted this, sO i removed my other post. apologies :)

Thanks for posting. That looked amazing. The cockpit looked ...wow! And when the engine caught fire....

Was intending to wait for the next generation of VR to come through. May have to reconsider that.....damn!

Indeed, It looks amazing, Pilot position and all gunners too.  As a matter of fact the IL2 immense work shows truly in VR.  The authenticity, the detail, functionality...so much care!!

Its absolutely amazing. All the gauges and buttons pop up, the view through the glass nose is awesome (also check out pe2 glass floor).

The gunner stations are amazing too, the guns feel HUGE and very real.

This makes me realize how warped the views are with TIR. I also have the habit of zooming out to the max, which makes it worse.

Every plane feels like the wings are huge but in a realistic way (the stuka surprised me).

yea, the feeling of the scale of the he111's wing is awesome.

Also, I wasnt expecting that hatch to open in front of my face and seeing the ground so far away was wonderful/terrifying!

Yeah, I think the biggest shock from switching back to a monitor (apart from the immersion) is the size of things. On a screen everything is tiny. You don't really notice it but then, blam, in VR everything is "true size" and it's just so much... bigger.

Those gunner station guns look heavy!

This release might do its fair share in saving the VR industry and pushing it through to the second generation of equipment. If not saving then at least in speeding it up a bit.

Yeah I don't think saving would be a thing, fairly sure VR is now on the fast track going forward with both Oculus and HTC working hard on improving the tech with next generation - along with others entering the fray.

I am sure it helps though and certainly does not hurt the cause. I am seeing more and more discussion about BoS and VR over on other forums now. I know I have certainly been trying to spread the word.
