Hopper64 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) I have set the commands for cockpit lighting for my Yak1s127, but I noticed the cockpit gauges in this screenshot from today's 2.009 update: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12826-game-updates/?p=459578 Am I missing a command to illuminate the cockpit gauges like that? It looks great. Thanks. Edited April 11, 2017 by Hopper64
Scojo Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 That button should cycle through instrument lights and cockpit lights. If it doesn't, then I'm no help.

Hopper64 Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Thanks. I wondered if the lighting concern I had was specific to the Yak. Appreciate the help.
Finkeren Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 The Soviet planes in general use fluorescent paint to light up instruments in the dark (in addition to having regular cockpit lights) These simply become visible, as it gets darker, no need to turn them on. IIRC the paint used is actually highly toxic (radioactive?) and has to be removed from old warbirds, because they pose a health risk. 1

That sounds like the stuff they used to use on watches in the late `80s! Interesting. Thanks.

Potenz Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 The radioactive paint thing is true, many girls that worked painting clocks and gauges got cancer due to they had wet the thin brush to keep it sharp
OrLoK Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) But they had glowing skin... Ontopic, the YAK1s69 has a lamp, if that helps Edited April 13, 2017 by OrLoK
