ema33ig Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 please, fix stuttering. before this update "Delta" the sim, it's fine. after the last update 2.009d, turn head with trackir stuttering very strange .. in all settings.. Disable HUD!
JG27*Kornezov Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) Try to change manually in the task manager (administrative rights) in the details tab, the priority of il2. I set it to high priority. This is a free way to get some more performance. Windows 10. But still I am not happy with the worse performance after the patch. And I need the hud to see the throttle settings otherwise I can kill the engine in no time in bf 109 f4. Edited April 25, 2017 by JG27_Kornezov
kileab Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Can you please allow snap views for VR users like the way you did for Track IR users please ?
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Can you please allow snap views for VR users like the way you did for Track IR users please ? I'd very much prefer they didn't. Let snap views be a thing of the past. I'm going to go ahead an assume that the desire for snap views is so you can easily check 6 from the top corner of your cockpit with a perfect view, but WW2 fighters didn't come with a rear view camera positioned perfectly out of the rear of the plane. Checking ones six took some effort and resulted in many a pilots demise because of not doing it as frequently as required. VR starts to bring some of this into the simulation. Lets keep it that way. 8
vracan Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) Has anybody tried playing il2 with clouds (set to "average weather")? I get wonky flickering on cloud edges. In WT clouds look great! Edited April 25, 2017 by vracan
Comes Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Is it possible that the strange Aliasing issue with aircraft in front of clouds has returned in this Version? I had the impression, that it was gone before the update.

SevenFifty Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 What I would like to try is 'partial' snap view, you have to turn your head first 100-120 deg then press the button to turn it 20-40 deg more. It shouldn't be disorientating, would work more like a zoom. But I'm afraid devs don't have spare resources to experiment right now.
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 WW2 fighters didn't have to do with a soup of pixel and a limited fov either. And neither will anyone else with later product generations. Lets try raise the bar now for the future of the SIM. Alternatively, enable snap views, but make them a server configurable dificulty option, both for VR and TrackIR and remove them from expert.

vracan Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 I had the same impression - Now it appears to be worse than it ever was (the klingon cloak even if a cloud is way in the distance). Add to that a big performance drop and horrible stuttering in MP (FFB and a headtracker working fine before). I've put BOS down for now. Everything since 2.006 original has been a performance loss for me but 2.008 just about kept it playable and enjoyable. 2.009, its laggy maps and 15-20fps in game frame drops (even with HUD off) have taken this away. I thought VR wasnt possible before 2.009?!

vracan Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 (edited) He wasn't talking about VR I thought this was a VR thread! It is very mis-leading and confusing to myself and others too, if we are talking about performance in VR and all of a sudden someone refers to non-VR performance without explicitly saying it was in non-VR. Lets face it VR and Non-VR is like "apples and oranges" Edited April 26, 2017 by vracan

Lets face it VR and Non-VR is like "apples and oranges" No, this is an official update discussion thread - it just happens to be that VR came through the last update. Speak for yourself, mate. This thread is generally for anything that pertains to the latest update. Misguided expectations or otherwise shouldn't be followed through with consternation for people discussing general post-patch performance. 2

Lets face it VR and Non-VR is like "apples and oranges" How dare I talk about non -VR related issues in a General Discussion Forum.........how very "off Topic". Perhaps we non VR-ers should be forced to display a symbol or something, y'know, just so everything is clear....
TG-55Panthercules Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Well, he has a point that the title of the thread is kinda confusing, and it does seem (without actually counting) like VR-related posts probably outnumber non-VR-related posts in this thread, but yeah, this thread seems intended to be the usual general discussion of the update, which just happens to have introduced VR support, which just happens to be one of the things people want to talk about most.

BOO, the game has been running incredibly smoothly for me for many patches. I gotta think that there is a technical cause of your frame rate issues and that it is solvable. Have you talked to the official support line with a ticket or consulted with folks on the Tech Help part of this forum? There are usually great suggestions.

Lusekofte Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) Lets face it non-VR people, VR will only become more and more popular, and we all know it! Maybe in this game, with the strict control interface. But in DCS pitbuilders shelve the VR devices. And I am more that kind of simmer. I hope this VR stuff increase sales so it is worth the Developers effort. For me this sim will not make me buy a VR set. Ah almost forgot, thank you developers, nice job Edited April 28, 2017 by 216th_LuseKofte
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Virtual reality isn't enough already. folk now want virtual altered reality. Another reason not to play MP, folk always looking for an advantage. Not entirely. I broke my back in three places and cannot rotate through my spine the at I could as a young guy. I can still play hockey at a very high level but can no longer take a slap shot with any velocity. For the same reason I can fly effectively with TiR but VR as implemented is probably not a good option for me. I'd be surprised if there aren't compromises which allow TiR type movement down the road for a variety of reasons. And yes spinal fusions suck and are awesome all at the same time. I do not recommend them if they can be avoided 1

Ah almost forgot, thank you developers, nice job Obviously you have'nt actually tried VR (using oculus or vive)! Cuz I used to say the same thing....until I tried one at freinds house the rest is history for me....but to each their own. I've spent orver 1k and would pay even more for improvements
Lusekofte Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Obviously you have'nt actually tried VR Yeah I have , tried it in DCS Huey , wonderful, stil I prefer to be able to use my pit to the fullest. I find BOS to be very repetetive . A feeling of doing the same in areas looking the same, I cannot see VR change that, The learning curve is not that steep and end pretty quick. I will probably buy VR when it is a couple of generation newer. Right now it simply is not adequate in DCS for my purpose, compared to price.

If a game is repetivie in VR then it will also be repetitive in non-VR. Sorry I fail to see your logic here. What specifically can you do in non-vr that you cannot do in VR?

sinned Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 If you believe VR is not answer to everyone for everything, thats fair enough. Just stop contracting yourself with comments such as "Imagine VR with that" in the thread about center joystick stand.
sinned Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 "Imagine VR with that" vs "this VR stuff" I think i know what wld drive my VR-wish attitude to become bitter and sour. Anyway, go delete it or elaborate further on that thread your new stance, so ppl are not mistaken what you meant "Imagine VR with that"
Livai Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) [ERROR MESSAGE] Did someone experience this funny bug? It is not Graphic Settings related I already tested it and this error message doesn't crash the game everything run rock-solid and fine? "OutOfMemory" -> LoL, about what RAM is BufferMan talking about? VRAM or RAM? 11GB VRAM seems enough for me maybe my 8 GB RAM is not enough. Look like I need to upgrade to 16 GB or 32 GB RAM. I am very glad that this Game remember me this because this was something on my to-do list! Never known that this game is humorous and exceptionally clever! -> Edited April 30, 2017 by Livai

Praetor Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 How do I adjust supersampling? I don't see the option in game. I'm running in Ultra with it sharpened and still have good frames so I'd like to push it more.

Praetor Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 VR or normal screen? VR. I seem to be doing it through Oculus Tray Tool. Game looks insanely amazing. Running at 2.5 and no FPS drop. 4790 Processor and 1070 card.

Funny I'm running VR using GTX1080 4670K processor and I get stutters, frame drops, double-images on aircraft when zooming past me. You still going thru steamVR even though you are using oculus home and tray tool , correct? Maybe it's my cpu? (although it peaks at 70%) Warthunder works flawlessly, so I'm about to abandon Il2 and stick with warthunder instead. In quick missions framerate is MUCH better than campaign for me. Trying multiplayer next. If framerate/stutters sucks in multiplayer too, I'm out of il2! Edited May 4, 2017 by vracan
