kolhector Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 navigation markers in expert dificulty? This big arrows in the sky are terrible. If you want to play in arcade mode choose normal difficulty but in expert must be a WWII simulator
C6_lefuneste Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I purchased some time ago an HDK2 in order to support the opensource approach behind OSVR. Despite some tracking problem I used it with SteamVR without trouble in DCS World and War thunder, But unfortunately Bos is not working with HDK2 yet. When in cockpit or hangar, the view is deformed (all object have a vertical size far greater than it should be) and also when turn my head along X axis (the virtual axis going from your head to the screen) the image is shifting instead rotating. When I looked around in cockpit the cockpit seems projected on a sphere instead beeing in 3D, when I move my head straight ahead the POV is moving to the front left...very strange. I know that we are very few to use OSVR, but it works as Vive or Rift in DCS and WT without dedicated support. Maybe it should be possible to make it easily works also in BoS ?
Hints Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Anyone having a flickering issue like the tracking is making you look straight. It mainly happens on main menu and when the FPS is low, I have no conflicting tracking devices. Oculus Rift CV1 I have tracking GREY SCREEN flickers in hangar and in game. I tried to change trakcer location and all different settings, updated drivers, nothing helps. In game gray flickers really spoil my game. I played Elite Dangerous months before and had no problems.
Lensman Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Hello all. I've been gone for a long time, just keeping the sim up to date with the patches but very rarely running it... until tonight. As soon as I saw the Oculus Rift support I was straight in and it's superb! WELL DONE DEV TEAM, I didn't think you'd ever achieve this but seriously; WELL DONE! This is now the most interesting VR experience available and it enhances the already brilliant IL-2 no end. I've been with IL-2 since the beginning 17 years ago (or whatever it is) and this is a miraculous rebirth. WOW! Edited April 12, 2017 by Lensman 3

Veiland Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Impressive! Just tried it on my Vive and IMO at launch its allready surpassing the experience in DCS on all parameters. Don't know what kind of sorcery the sharpen filter is, but it works. Im not experiencing any real difference in performance (4770K@4400 / 1080ti) between VR and non VR, something which is not the case in other VR adapted games ive tried (DCS, Elite Dangerous & WT) Never at any point did it drop below 45fps (just the settings everyone else is reporting to work, havent fiddled with it yet) I actually like the head bunking noise and the constraint though I think im getting shot at everytime it happens. I don't think the constraint will cause problems since your head is allready in an odd unusual angle when you encounter it. Only tried the 109 so far but cockpit seems roughly same size as the 109 in DCS I mainly fly Falcon BMS (no VR boooh) and DCS but have owned and flown BOS on and off for a few years (suck at ww2 dogfighting so a little frustating flying multiplayer) After trying BOS with VR ive put my money where my mouth (which is currently fixed in a wide grin) is and just purchased BOK and BOM and LA-5. Can't wait to see where this will lead us ... Well done 777! 2
Hints Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Love VR, but I'm getting a gray screen inside goggles every 30 seconds. Anyone know what it is from? It's random. Same here, Oculus CV1

yeikov Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Now each time I fly there are like visual bugs on the transparent part of any canopy is this normal or not?! That's probably due to Sharpen filter (it makes the canopy scratches look like that under certain light angles), try disabling it. Edited April 12, 2017 by yeikov

Jnelson Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Still struggling with flickering every time my FPS dips below 45. It is like someone is centering my camera then it goes back to where I am looking but it happens multiple times it is really annoying. Oculus Rift btw.

It is like someone is centering my camera then it goes back to where I am looking but it happens multiple times it is really annoying. Oculus Rift btw. I cant help too much with the CV1(I have a Vive) but have you tried lowering your settings? I know for me in DCS and sometimes in BOS if the fps drops very low it will cut out the game and I'm looking at the Vive home screen for a second or two. Its not IL2 or DCS at fault but my cpu/gpu not able to keep up with the fps it needs to keep the grey screen out. Post your specs..lets take a look. Same here, Oculus CV1 low fps?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 There is little problem with aircaft position on the map (aka GPS). When i have my positon enabled on map together with GUI, but letter i hide GUI (H key), then switch to the map - i have to press "I" again to see my own plane icon on the map. Futhermore if i go back to cockpit and later switch to map again the plane icon is not updated and is frozen - i have to press "I" key twice to see my true position.

71st_AH_Hooves Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Hey Aero! First Off thanks for helping me the other night, one of those things you suggested actually got my game to stop crashing. Second, leaning forward will act just as if you were siting in the cockpit yourself. There is a "zoom" key that if held will 2x your FOV like you were looking through binocs. peregrine7 Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 For those running the Rift with steamvr, there's a few things you need to be aware of. 1) Anything steamvr considers "bad tracking" will cause the screen to go grey (blank grey, no lines on the ground etc). With the DK2 this means looking at your 6 makes you go blind. Because obviously, if you can't move your head the only reasonable thing is that you shouldn't be able to see. (sarcasm ) This also occurs for a brief second with the Rift CV1 every time a trackling station loses tracking. SteamVR really needs to remove this "feature". There used to be a way around it but it seems to no longer work.2) Sometimes steamvr gets upset if you haven't done the basic room config (i.e. calibration). Over time it will fight the game, moving your view around. This happens when in mission, in the pause menu, but that's fine. However if the mismatch is great enough it will go grey (blind) again. So run the steamvr config and do it sitting down. 3) If you get bad performance, rather than using ASW/ATW to fill in the gaps, steamvr will flash the steamvr dashboard at you. In Il2's menus this means you'll get the steamvr dashboard popping up all the time, no system can run il2's menus without dropping frames when you click on things - and the loading screen still runs at a low framerate. Neither of those are strictly issues with the game (DCS is the same, with large pauses in the in-game menus and a low framerate loading screen. Running it through Home is fine) but they are small issues that have been made worse by how steamvr handles it. And some general tips for Vive and Rift users (and other devices too, if you manage to make them work. If your device doesn't have positional tracking it will not work period) 4) In game your FPS must be above 45. Else the dashboard and/or bad tracking things will flash in front of you. Lower some settings to get here. 5) I wouldn't recommend dynamic resolution scaling, as it doesn't seem to recognize the difference between CPU and GPU loading leading to reduced resolution (with 0 fps gain) when quite a few planes are in the air (the amount varies, but anything above 8 leads to dramatically lower fps for me) 6) On that note, don't fly missions with lots of planes. 7) Rejoice GTX780 users, steamvr crashes with the old drivers we've been using, Il2 crashes with the new drivers. We're stuck with a steaming mess of crashes. I'm still trying to find a good solution to this - any suggestions welcome. And some requests (from users and devs)To the users: If anyone can figure out how to stop the grey screen on lost positional tracking please let me know. Not being able to check my six is going to drive me insane. To the devs: I don't expect it to be quick, but please start working on Oculus Home support as well as your current openvr support. You've done a great job getting vr support in the game - I'd love to see it polished to the point of being usable. Maybe a dumb question but when using VR do u zoom in like when using a screen or does leaning forward give the same affect as zoom?I Different things. When you lean (in any direction) objects close to you move closer (and get bigger), but objects farther away don't change in size (so not useful in spotting aircraft - try leaning in real life, it's the same in VR). When you zoom in game it's like using binoculars in reality. I'd love it if the zoom effect was instant, as the zoom in "animation" is quite sickening in VR.
dburne Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Maybe a dumb question but when using VR do u zoom in like when using a screen or does leaning forward give the same affect as zoom? I There is a VR momentary zoom feature that will zoom, somewhat handle for trying to id things at a distance. Leaning forward gives same result as leaning forward in real life would.
TG-55Panthercules Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Actually, after I got my vive downgraded so VR works again, I was looking at the rivers last night. I'm playing on ultra with 4x distance scaling and distant grass, and the rivers look much different. My rivers have appropriate sandbars and such at various points and at bends, etc. It might just be a LOD setting on your end. I'll update with a screenshot when I get off work. I hope you're right, 'cause it's hard to believe everybody else is seeing it like this and not complaining. I've been playing around with so many graphics settings lately it wouldn't surprise me if something got a bit out of whack on my end.

Binoculars and as such is not recommended doing so during advanced maneuvers. But straight and level or in a casual bank ito feels just fine. Also on a different subject. I do feel the canopy cluncking is a bit too loud, also I feel like I shoukd be able lean much closer to the dash than currently possible. Other than that, limited mode is fine. senseispcc Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Hello! Dating from the last patch and even more so from the last corrections of the last patch I am a victim to the phenomenon illustrated on the present picture. All the technical messages of the game are posted on the upper right corner of the screen on top of each other if there is more than one and for the rest of the game and my mouse does not function anymore! My mouse is not present on the map. When I click right or left buttons nothing happens anywhere in the game! The “menus” in the game can only be piloted by the keyboard witch is possible but very annoying. I appear to complain a lot but the game was perfect before but now is broken for one or two details. I know this shall be corrected but still it lessens my pleasure playing this game. this image to prove my point of view.

HiThe issue with winter and summer time, sound like infra red interferences. The Oculus uses infra red light for tracking, our sun is producing the same electromagnetic waves. And in summertime the infra red waves have a much easier way to pierce our atmosphere, therfore the light in winter is colder, less red waves... So may you can solve your issue with darkening your room. It was the same with TrackIR, even a indirect reflection on a modarate reflecting surface caused interferences and tracking issues. May this helps? Edited April 13, 2017 by Daliaraptor

150GCT_Veltro Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) hm. sadly for me it seems to be still there after the new hotfix 2009b. menu and gui is ok, but in the cockpit (without VR) it is visibly stuttering, which is was not on 2.008 for me :-( i did not change any settings between the updates... random guess is the tree fix is heavier on the graphics load maybe? I'm takling about a strange stuttering introduced with 2.009 (60FPS), a sort of persistent stuttering not the "classic" stuttering we usually have in a filght sim. I've stressed it a lot yesterday evening on Berloga (25-30 player in media), and all is returned smooth with 2.009b. 2.009 was really not a "normal" stuttering. Edited April 13, 2017 by 150GCT_Veltro
