 Update 2.009

Dear pilots,
we're happy to announce that update 2.009 is ready. The most important addition in it is the VR support. In addition to VR itself, graphics as a whole were heavily updated during the VR development, so everyone will benefit from this update. In addition, it contains many improvements and corrections in other subsystems of the sim.
Main features:

Here are some tips & tricks you may already know that will help set up your VR for IL-2 (but it may be useful for other games).

Thanks gents. Is there not a new plane added with the update?

I really hope everyone likes it. The beta has seen TREMENDOUS improvement since it's initial implementation. I flew for about 1.5 hrs last night in VR going after bombers and escorts. It was amazing!

Great!

Glad that VR is here, now you can concentrate to other very important matters  :salute:

Also the other improvements sounds good and new settings will be useful. Is there any timetable for full graphic options?

The list of multiplayers server disappear

I was so looking forward to this but the fact that I have to install steam to get VR support with the Rift means that I will not be running IL2 in VR. I simply refuse to use steam. Thanks for the effort though.

Any early VR impressions? (I am stuck at work)

Your multiplayer list is ok?

You'll need to wait until the servers have been updated to the new version.

Woohoo, grabbing it now!

Don't know if I will have any time to mess around with it shortly in VR as I have a doc appt and have to run out, but so looking forward to having a go with it later today.

Thank you so much!

First impressions are excellent.
Very good fps, plane (109F4) much more stable, wobling minimized, trees much better...

So far great job!

No VR here...

Sounds like it will be amazing! Im not quite ready for VR but this is certainly great news for those who own a HMD already. Ill jump in with the next version of the ViVe/rift.

Also very interested in the frame bump when hiding the hud and the dynamic resolution.

Great job!

What's so bad about steam, that you can't just use it to run the steam VR app?

IMO, even if you don't like it, its worth downloading just for IL-2 in VR! :)

Anyone with a Rift having issues?

I seer the game on screen which has headtracking input but Im only seeing a grey screen on my HMD. If i vigorously turn my head, i can occasionally see a line of pixels on the extreme right which looks like its from the game.

Ill shall persevere...

Solved it, cat had pulled out usb

Run Room Setup in Steam VR and/or try VR centering in the game (Numpad 5 by defaut).

Thanks guys for your continued hard work! I'm not using VR, but still a very nice patch.

(Hope it's good for sales. :)

I say let him go on.

The tinfoil hat conspiracy surrounding Steam is entertaining at the very least.

I seem to be having some trouble, not getting anything in my Rift HMD other than audio, just stays on the Steam VR home screen.

Made sure VR was checked in graphics settings...

Will try some more later today.

Nice improvements but...but no new BOK plane...after a month and a half..

I can't find the words to express my dissapointment, I was expecting more than duh... VR which I will probably never use unless I manage to have enough spare money for this very expensive gadjet and more importantly if somehow someone manages to produce something that has a decent resolution.

Have fun with VR whoever are the few rich guys using this, at least i'm glad you will probably not see me coming while I will be able to spot you at max range and identify your plane without a problem.

This is bringing me to tears literally because it's so beautiful I can't blink. Just got a 1080ti so I've been enjoying supersampling in my vive which all but kills the screen door effect and god rays. I have no problems reading the gauges in cockpit. it's so clear. The external views (especially when reviewing recorded flights) is insanely cool, like swooping around a miniature plane...in super slow motion...as it crashes and splits into pieces...seriously. This is fulfilling so many childhood fantasies as I wandered around for hours with my dog, mumbling as I told myself imagined stories of WWII pilots' harrowing adventures. (When I was young, I was limited to an hour or so of Microsoft CFS2/3 per day, so I filled the rest of the day with reading my technical books on planes and telling myself stories that I wished the simulator was advanced enough to replicate. Now it exceeds my childhood fantasies! Thank you!)

First impressions on the BoX VR are great!

I took few different planes to the air and did some quick mission dogfighting. I think the implementation is as good as it can be with the current HW limitations. Devs, you have done very well, once again  :salute:

Thanks, but yes I did still not getting the display in the HMD.

I exited out of Steam VR and restarted it just in case, still no go.

Not using VR here, but I have to say this patch has improved my performance a bit. The trees look AMAZING without that silly popping effect, though I have not had a chance to test the clouds. I did try the sharpening effect and it added way too much shimmering on my GTX760 card. Overall I think this one is a winner performance wise. :good:

Try to run Room Setup in Steam VR.
