How does IL-2 BoX run in Win 10 Creators Edition ?

Any of you successfuly running it in Win 10 CE ?

No problems here. CE update took about 30-40 minutes and only issue I had was it removed my Beats Audio program, sound still worked, just the program disappeared. But, the sounds in BOS are better now.

Is Game Mode working if you start only the il 2 .exe?

Didn't try Game Mode ( does that exist ? ), but other thant that it works just OK!

 

EDIT: just tried it, by searching for il2.exe under the "bin" folder, and it Works perfectly, and exist OK. trying SP and MP. 

 

What's the advantage of starting IL-2 this way BTW other than skipping the update checker ?

I guess this big update has not rolled out to me as of yet.

I will certainly be keeping my fingers crossed!

 

I did not see much information at all on Game Mode over on the Windows 10 forums.

Just a guess on my part, perhaps it disables some not needed processes whilst running a game to maybe lean the system out a little for better performance?

 

Ah ok found this article that describes it in more detail. Also apparently it is a somewhat hidden feature in the update.

I could not get IL2.exe to work with the "Game Mode".   As I see it, you have to open the game bar (win+G) and click the settings to add the game. Problem is BOS has it's on mouse routines so you cannot click on the game bar, you can get it to work for the BOS launcher which means it recognizes the launcher as a game.  I got it working with DCS, but haven't really had a chance to test it. Not sure if it will have any real impact anyway.

Looks more that is just another useless "gadjet" (like Launchers) running in games background.

Heck, PC Gamer saw a sizable performance decrease in Hitman with Game Mode enabled.

Same here with the game .exe also GM is working with DCS.

Elite launcher showed the same.

After Win Update and MSI Afterburner is running both launcher could not start...without MSI they start...

 

every day something new...

Oh great - I can see it now -  now that I am all set up and ready for BOS VR, my system will update with this just before VR release and cause all sorts of problems trying to run the game.

 

I think I will stay far away from using this " Game Mode".

Ya I always have a Launcher shortcut on my desktop and use that, cept when I need to get an update for the game.

I use a shortcut to the il2.exe and the only need to run the launcher is to update the game !

I only spent about 3 weeks on win10 before scrapping it and going back to win7 (and getting back 25fps in IL2)

Essentially use less resources on the background while the game is running.

yeah after looking at the test on it..

its just a gimmick like all gaming mode apps that close background tasks.
worked on old computers on new ones it does nothing.

im still getting much better frames in Windows 7 obviously
once windows 10 support is dropped and it scrapped for windows 12
(that will look again like windows 7 again as win 10 is a big flop of useless tool)
