D3D Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

Hello, I want to rehash an issue that was in earlier threads because I am stuck (even after following the advice given here)!   I just installed Battle of Stalingrad.   Within minutes of starting a mission the game crashes with a D3D Error.  Specifically 

 

D3D Error 

DXBufferMan11::vb(..)

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

 

 

 

I've tried uninstalling GeForce Experience

I've used different resolutions

I've added IL-2 to NVIDIA 3D Settings 

 

 

This looks like a freckin awesome game and I'd love to get into it so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

 

My system: 

 

GeForce GTX 760 (graphics)

GeForce GTX 550Ti (PhysX)

Intel i7

Windows 7 Pro 

16 gigs of Ram.

I got the same kind of error today when I've launched game after a few days of a break. The only difference since then is the new, updated driver - 381.65, from April 6th. It has changed my GPU usage, and made my overclocks unstable. I also have pretty serious stutters

 

And for the record, I have the same GPU :

GTX 760 with max boost clock at 1293 Mhz and max VRAM clocks at 6.6 Ghz. Couple of days ago it was stable and smooth, no crashes other than usual ones. Today right after start and launching first quick mission this happened.

So it seems it starts to affect also 760 cards.

 

We, 780 owners, have this prob since the

end of last year.

Try to instal 368.81 driver. The last one that works with 780 cards...

I will probably install the previous to the one I have now. It worked nice and stable, gave me nice overclock room as well. It was 378.92

But this gets annoying to be honest, Nvidia messes with drivers recently so much. I've been having issues with their drivers for months in various titles :/

Nvidia has done this on purpose many times in the past.

they are just trying to force people to upgrade.

hence why when 10xx cards came out 3 days later drivers released caused a 10-15% fps drop on GTX 9xx cards.

Which is exactly why my next GPU will be from AMD. They keep supporting even older GPUs of 7xxx series. But for now I have what I have and gotta deal with it.

My friend who uses a gtx 780 also has this issue. However i am fine with my 980ti.He has had problems after the vr update. please il support look into this issue or give us all a solution.

Do a clean install of the 368.81 driver and let it also install GeForce Experience.

GE will then prevent W10 from installing newer driver automatically - it will just inform you there is a newer driver version, which you'll ignore.

Thanks for the replies. The 368.81 clean install didn´t help. Enabling/ disabling GE didn´t change anything too.

 

But I made a clean install of the lates NVIDEA drivers for the 780TI and have really better performance and no more crashes with the bug above, after disabling SSAO. Seems that there was something off with the drivers in combination with SSAO.

How long did you fly without a crash?

Just tested now for approx. 20Minutes. No crash. WIth SSAO I have a crash within the first 3 Minutes.

 

Will test some more now.

Tested it now with the latest driver, SSAO off and had a crash after 5 mins.
I have GTX780 (no Ti).

So, back to 368.81.

OK, but so far all 780 versions were affected.

I cheered too early I guess. Now I just get the error after about 20-30 minutes. Seems to depend on load of the GPU?

yup same here. My friends game crashed after about 30 min flight while in a dogfight. He only just used gerforce experience to get latest driver today also.

Reporting the exact same Issue...

 

After a Long time without using Il2 I tried today again, with the newest drivers and I get the exact same issue minutes after starting the game.

Following instructions in this Forums, I downgrade my Drivers to version 368.81 and I still have the same issue

Did you a clean/manual install of 368.81?

It works fine with my GTX780 on W10....

 

Beware W10 will install a new driver automatically if you don't have also NVidia GeForce Experience installed

also as its a DX issue, did you guys install the june 2010 DX packages?

 

just wondering because some people feel or think just because they already have it, don't allow the install to occur when the game is installing, and you're supposed to allow it to install.

depending where you installed the game:

 

*:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\_CommonRedist 

 

inside this folder are 3 folders, go into the Directx folder and reinstall DX, by clicking on the DXSETUP exe. 

 

also doesn't hurt to run the other folders i.e. DotNet, and vcredist, folders..

This problem ONLY affects NVidia 780 users, so it must be related to that card.

 

Where to find that folder in a non-Steam install?

Ok, found it at IL-2...\data\updater\3rd_party

Will do a last try with newest driver later today...

So I reinstalled DX and vcredist, installed newest 780 driver => crash
Reinstalled 368.81 driver => game runs OK

ok so... I unistall the drivers using DDU. Restart PC

Instal drivers "368.81-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql"

Using Express instalation

Then I open GeForce Experience and In "My Rig" tab I get the 368.81 drivers listed.

 

But when I restart my PC I check again GeForce Experience and I get 376.53  !!

 

My automatic download in Experience are off (any way it shoudnt install it)  

 

For some reason My drivers change during restart after I installed the 368.81 even tought they not change to the newest one, 381.65 as that would make sense.

 

Im gonna start searching at Nvidia Forums for someone with this problem 

 

Edit... Device Manager and GPUZ shows this as the driver 21.21.13.7653   wich I guess is not the 368.81 that I want..

I already Tried Uninstalling 2 times

I removed all the drivers from Nvidea and installed the "START" driver 368.81 without success! The D3D Error Remains!

 

It's a SHAME worth $ 90.00 with so many BUG's all the time and without a simulator engine like DCS, Cliffs Of Dover and even Grandpa 1946!

 

This is not a Nvidea bug since all other Listed Simulators work perfectly!

 

This Simulator is money Played in the GARBAGE !!!

Uninstall your driver and any other nvidia drivers except Mobo drivers, reboot and run driver cleaner............ http://www.afterdawn.com/software/security/system_cleanup/driver_cleaner_pro.cfm...   reboot and install the driver of your choice, don't install anything but the VGA driver and physics driver leave all that other shiznit off..............

Well this problem is new and only came to light since new update. my friend with his gtx 780 has been playing il2 bos for a year now and this problem only started happening recently. he plays rise of flight no issues, as well as loads of steam games no issues. so how can this be an nvidia issue????. Gtx 780 users need a new driver or il2 needs a new patch asap.  Glad I got a 980ti!! very frustrating for u guys.

How would you explain then, that with 368.81 driver game runs OK and with any later driver version it crashes?

Also, if it would be a game fault, why it afrfects only 780 cards?

He is yet to try 368.81 so will get back when he does.Have u played for over an hour with that driver no issues? His crash is normally after about 40 min or so. All i know is i have been playing il2 from the first bos release with him and his game has always ran fine until vr patch.

I tried the old driver - No joy. I sent about 1 hour trying to fix something which was broken by the latest patch. That is about the half of my weekly playtime wasted. Instead of trying to fix their code, which the development seems to have broken with the latest patch I am told in their forums to spent more time breaking my installation which runs fine?

 

Thats funny. I guess i will look for a refund for my just wasted BoK purchase. Still trying to get my joy out of my early backing of BoS.

 

Anyway for now I will rather spent my limited time over Normandy anyway. But maybe there is a way to roll back the latest patch?

Update.. Stop Windows 10 from auto Updating my drivers .

Install clean the 368.81

Make sure 3 times I got the 368.81 and not any other driver.

 

The game runs fine for 15 minutes or so.. and then it crashes.

 

So they dont work for me, Im done with iL2 for the momment.

Yup, just updated game, and also get crash with 780ti, not played game in a while, but last year worked flawlessly, must be one of the latest il2 patches, i have like 60+ games installed, and all work perfectly.
