dburne Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) Hey gang, Looking for any tips. I am in the process of getting my controls setup up for the Yak 1 Series 69, and think I about have them all . It has been a long time for me so sorry for rookie questions lol. Water and Oil Rads - are these open/shut toggles, or progressive? I will need to assign buttons probably rather than axis ( never enough axis available) , just trying to determine the best option for me setting those up on my Warthog. I will likely only be flying the Yak at least until the Spit comes available. I have Propeller RPM on my gray slider on Warthog throttle, and Mixure on my Warthog left throttle. Braking - No need for left and right brake assignments in the Yak I believe, as it is one main brake combined with pedal direction? Would an axis still be ideal for this ( one of my rudder toe brakes), or would assigning to a joystick button maybe work better? I think the rest of the main aircraft controls I will need I have set up ok ( I will be flying VR and so no intention of trying to press any keyboard keys). Any tips on this or anything else I would certainly appreciate! Thanks, Edited April 7, 2017 by dburne
Finkeren Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) Radiators open and shut progressively. It's preferable to have them on a slider, but not necessary, as the buttons work fairly fast, I have cowl outlet/intake for the air cooled engines set to buttons and it works great. I have main brake on a button and it works fine. No negative impact on taxiing. One thing you might have missed: Map the supercharger gear to an easy-to-reach button. You'll use it more often than you'd think. Edited April 7, 2017 by Finkeren

May be hope lol.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I personally have the break on the pinky switch on the stick. I use the left throttle for rpm and the right one for throttle (I inverted the rpm so when u push it away it decreases). All of my rads are on hat switches on the throttle. Plus the supper charger and boost are on buttons on the throttle.

I also had put the rads and supercharger on the hats on my throttle also. Great minds think alike!
seafireliv Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) Might be a good idea to make sure your controls are all working and calibrated in your computer devices, before finalising as one good friend advised me. Had so much trouble with my quadrant not fulling going 100% meaning lots of spinning and not taking off even when flying all the way down the runway. Edited April 7, 2017 by seafireliv
