Scojo Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I work with a lot of people in their teens and early 20s in my workplace and I've found them universally to be.... humans. Pretty much the same variety and diversity as the older folks. Pretty annoying to always be trying to tell people otherwise but I do try. The poor online behavior I see in some communities seems to be less about the age and more about the attitudes of the forum/community. We're pretty good here but we have some cranky old folks too! :D :D :D Fully agree. As a mid-twenty year old who works with lots of older ladies and gentlemen, I can easily say that no generation is better or worse than another. If there were a generational problem, I hate to break it to the older generation, but it would largely stem from their bad parenting..... People just like to bandwagon into what they view as "superior" groups as it makes them feel safe and comfortable. Always has been a thing and always will.
[310th]Copperhead Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Is that a laptop, with integrated graphics? Hmmm,,,,,, yes but it's an $1800.00 laptop that crushes every game I have at full graphics.

[310th]Copperhead Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 It better crush every game at full oh I know I cried the day I bought it. half out of joy and half out of WTF are you doing spending that kinda cheddar on this thing?!!!?
[310th]Copperhead Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 this download. omfg. it's BAD. like really realy bad. DSL. :-( SIDE BAR....in all candor, I know I know DSL sucks but I'm relegated to it due to an on going dispute with Charter Spectrum. They wont provide service to me any more. Probably due to the $100k lawsuit I have pending against them for malicious prosecution. LONG story that ends with me paying my bill with a 5 gal. bucket of pennies and them having me arrested for trespassing. Which the judge dismissed due to no trespassing being involved and their employees committing perjury. And lastly them paying me a very large sum of money for their own stupidity and the complete @sshatery of their local manager. Case pending......See I NEVER CHANGE! So while it takes 3 weeks to download this 5.31 GB currently @ only 885.32 MB...... that I started to download last night....I guess I should be looking for some place with faster internet. Is the dsl going to be a problem for online play? If they have managed to retain IL-2's old net code (which was fing horrible, even @ it's best) then I just wasted my money. If they haven't then I may be ok.
Freycinet Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hello from another oldtimer. Always stayed with flightsims, never strayed. Cliffs of Dover is probably the best out there if you look for a mature and friendly old-school community with great values. This sim, however, is moving into very interesting territory, technology-wise, with the latest update. CoD and BoS/M are both great and deserve to be supported.
[310th]Copperhead Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hey Copperhead.. check your messages! Gypsy GYPSY BILL! You ol scoundrel! Dirty son of a worn out saddle bag you! Yeah I'm check that right now ol pal.
Hoss Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Hey Copperhead, like you i got iL2 about two weeks after it released here in the states. Played online with the old <PF>, and 361st_BeoWolf............. kind of played around with Lock On for a bit, then joined up with AG-51 VUSN group, and am still with them, they were IV/JG-51 in the early days of IL2, but when Pacific Fighters came out some of them left to form AG-51 (Air Group 51) VF-51 of the USS San Jacinto WWII. Most have transitioned over to DCS now, some dabble in RoF and BoX. We came over here and started using IV/JG-51 again on BoX. I even dabbled with IL2 Cliffs of Dover, flew with a nice bunch over there, we had some good multi-player campaigns going on there too. The amount of money I have spent on computer and flight controls would make my wife shit a brick if she knew the grand total... but, I get a great release flying around shooting the shit out of stuff in all of these great flight sims. It's good to see some of the old troopers from time to time. 361st_Stanger and 361st_Oblitt are both in AG-51 now as Too Late and SandHog... I saw a JG27 guy here in the thread.............. anyone hear from JG27-Crash?............ I got to meet him when he transfered to NAS Lemoore back in the early 2000's. He's prolly retired now............. I retired from USN 20 years ago this month.. time flies.............. Good to see you on the forums again Cheers Hoss aka... 361st BeoWolf............... AG-51 Hoss
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Crash is on our private forum every day pretty much, retired from the Navy and busy at a civvie job now. Don't know if he is still flying any or not, I know he has the game installed, but like so many of us, not much time anymore.
[310th]Copperhead Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) El, I know the P-40 is your baby....how's it perform in this sim? Edited April 15, 2017 by [310th]Copperhead
III/JG53Frankyboy Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 nice to read something from you Copperhead and yes, the long IL2 years were great ... will be for always a very important part of my lifeexperience . even if it was 'only' a game !
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) El, I know the P-40 is your baby....how's it perform in this sim? Not well at all. I only fly it offline for sight seeing, it's modeled to some very restrictive, and unrealistic engine limits, so it can't get out of it's own way, and it has issues with handling because of some global physics problem with how airflow affects control surfaces. Good guns though. Meh, I don't want to get into it as it will only get me banned. Edited April 15, 2017 by BlitzPig_EL
DD_Arthur Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 All your P40's belong to us now Copperhead At the end of Spring we'll be getting a proper aeroplane in the shape of the Spitfire Vb and you can have your P40's back - whats left of 'em anyway.

Black_Bodkin Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Created an account just so I could reply, having come here looking for up to date info on the tanks in BOS/M. Could have said much the same as Copperhead and others above, although didn't get into Eve. I enjoyed WoT, arcade game tho it was - but at least never pretended to be anything else. The gob$**tes though... yes, the in-game ranting got tiresome. The players who were really good never bemoaned others on their team, but those who thought they were good couldn't STFU. Then got into WT, as a more realistic tank sim - and I can fly too. However, I've never despised the makers of a game I played like I despise the cynical money grabbing of GJ. I can see there are devs there who put a lot of thought, even love into the game, but sadly they don't call the big shots. Guess I'm still there due to the investment of time and ££ and because every now and then it can be pretty good and the potential is there... Tinkered with DCS too, but it lacks a real WW2 world, although maybe that's on the way. I've felt for a while that it's only time before I go for BOS/M. With a whole new control set up in the post, which is light years removed from previous hardware I've used, I'll probably be needing a decent WW2 prop sim to use it on, sooner rather than later. 1
