Cannot look up more than about 60 degrees with TrackIR (BoS)

I have a TrackIR 5, running with the Smooth profile. This profile works perfectly in CloD and DCS, but in BoS, whenever I look up, it stops around 60 degrees and then rapidly snaps to a different place (usually the back of my cockpit) and then just glitches around until I point my head back forwards again. This is very frustrating in dogfights as looking up is of course very necessary when you're turning.

Is there any fix for this? I've seen a few forum threads but nothing has helped so far.

Thanks,

Flare

Also, take a look at your TIR software screen (the "Camera View" window that shows you where the lights from your trackclip pro are, assuming you're using one).  I've noticed that when I was having the kind of glitching behavior you mention it was because/when the three lights were overlapping in a wierd way (sort of like "crossing the streams", for you old Ghostbusters fans).

Take a look at the screenshots below - the first one shows the good/normal way they should look - as long as that middle green dot stays on the right side of the line between the top and bottom dots as you look around, you should be fine.   But if you get to the point where you look so far to the side that the middle green dot crosses over to the other side of the line between the top and bottom dots as shown in the second screenshot below, you are likely to get the kind of glitching you're talking about.

[EDIT] I only tested side to side to make these screenshots, but I believe you get the same problem if you look so far up that the middle dot goes above the top one in that window view.
