Jade_Monkey Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 (edited) The recent VR notes and BOK were featured in an article on RockPaperShotgun. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/03/31/the-flare-path-mostly-militaria/ "The flare path" is my favorite kind of post on this site, mostly related to strategy games and simulations around modern era and WWII games. It's not the first time they mention IL2 but it's good to see that some of the writers are keeping an eye on progress here. Edited April 2, 2017 by Jade_Monkey 1
Jason_Williams Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Tim Stone is one of the few guys who still write about sims in mainstream publications. He's been doing it for years. Jason 1
itsmecamille Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Same here, I really enjoy his weekly feature and always look forward to Friday. It's a pity that bigger media outlets like PC Gamer don't have a weekly or even monthly simulation coverage, because I suspect this can do a lot to bring people towards our genre. Certainly back in the 80s and 90s simulation games always appeared at the same level as other games in the print gaming and computer media. In the case of the VR patch, IL2 will have the opportunity to reach a new crowd as it will most likely attract quite a bit of attention on reddit with the oculus and vive subreddits, and VR focused news like uploadVR and road to VR. Currently people are having a go at combat flight sims either by trying War Thunder (but many people can't stand the horrible grind and free to play model. And multiplayer is not the right way to try simulation in VR) or DCS (and for a complete simulation newcomer that's certainly not the way to get started!), so IL2 BoX will really fill a gap.
JG4_Sputnik Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Thanks for the link! Its good to see that RPS still covers the issue of flight sims in detail.
