kraut1 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) Hi All, Here my first Tools Jaegerleitstelle-v01 and Radar-Stalingrad-v01 (both current only for german side). Purpose: for PWCG single player missions and original single player campaign missions (german fighter) in expert level you will get some informations by ground control by subtitles. (I myself don't want to use the map with the moving plane icons because this technology was not available in WW2. Infos by subtitles are from my point of view a bit more realistic because they are similar to radio messages.) Functions Jaegerleitstelle: -Infos (subtitles) by Ground Control (called Jaegerleitstelle) about range to enemies (30km,16km,9km,6km,3km) -Warnings by wingmen (only if german planes are closer than 2.5km): Achtung Gegner in 1500m! Achtung Gegner in Schussentfernung! Functions Radar-Stalingrad: -Infos (subtitles) by Ground Control about positions of enemy (russian) planes (only for some grid positions, not very accurate to be realistic) Installation: see Radar-Stalingrad-v01-INFO.txt and Jaegerleitstelle-v01-INFO.txt Mission Test_Radar_Stalingrad_Jaegerleitstelle.Mission is for testing, I have created the attached screenshots with this Mission. Test Status: I have used these Tools for ca. 10 PWCG missions and ca. 10 original campaign missions and it worked. General Note: These Tools are very primitive because my knowledge with the Mission Editor is very limited and I have not much time available for much further development. So from my point of view Everybody who is interested may use and modify these Tools. DISCLAIMER: THE USAGE OF THESE TOOLS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND COULD HAVE SOME NEGATIVE EFFECT ON YOUR COMPUTER OR IL2 INSTALLATION. Best regards Edited December 29, 2022 by kraut1 5
Juri_JS Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I've looked at the files in the Mission Editor and I think it's a clever idea. Unfortunately the editor doesn't allow reports of heading and altitude of enemy planes.
Original_Uwe Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Was radar commonly deployed by the Luftwaffe in the ostfront? I was under the impression early detection was done primarily by spotters?
Juri_JS Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Was radar commonly deployed by the Luftwaffe in the ostfront? I was under the impression early detection was done primarily by spotters? Deployment of radar only began in mid-1943, when radar equipped trains were send to the east. Earlier only spotters, listening devices and radio interception were used.
Semor76 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Thx Kraut1. I dont like moving Icons on the Map too.Who needs a GPS in a WWII Sim? Will test it out ASAP.
kraut1 Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Was radar commonly deployed by the Luftwaffe in the ostfront? I was under the impression early detection was done primarily by spotters? Deployment of radar only began in mid-1943, when radar equipped trains were send to the east. Earlier only spotters, listening devices and radio interception were used. I agree with you, maybe the Name Radar-Stalingrad is bit misleading. I was aware that the ground control at the eastern front did not have such sophisticated devices as at the western front. As Juri_JS said it was a mixture of spotters, listening devices, Radio direction finding and only few Radars. Because of that I have designed Radar-Stalingrad in such a way, that the reported grid Information are only rough and you will not get a message for each grid square. I did not check the accuracy in Detail but I think tolerances are ca. +-5km or more. So I think it is not to unrealistic. Best regards 1
kraut1 Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 Hi All, This afternoon I created Radar Moscow for the Moscow maps in a similar way as Radar Stalingrad. As already discussed I considered the poor accuracy of the direction finding devices used on the eastern front by: -The diametres of the check zones are much smaller than the grid squares so the chance to get a Report to each grid square is only about 20%-30%. -The check zones have a deviation of ca. 0m -3000m from the grid Center. Installation is the same as for Radar Stalingrad. Test Status: in 2 Missions of the original Moscow campaign installed and tested. For future: I will create alternative Versions of the Radars and Jaegerleitstelle for russian pilots to detect german planes Best regards Radar-Stalingrad-Jaegerleitstelle-v02.zip 3
