Toxin1 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Just a question, can IL-2 Run 7680 x 1440 triple-screen ? or Is it best with 5760x1080 triple-screen Gpu is a ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition I just upgraded my setup with triple-screens using my ROG Swift 2560x1440 and 2 1920x1080 panels. I used a custom resolution for my ROG Swift of 7680x1440 and 2560x1440 for the other 2 1080 panels. I then selected my IL-2 BOS game resolution to 7680x1440 and got it to show up across all three screens. I set my graphics to balanced and AA off in game. My GTX1070 pumped out 40-80 FPS which was very playable. Hope this helps
GrendelsDad Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 It will go as high as 12288x2160...as far as I know...anything higher than 8000x2160 I had ti leave the in game AA on or the view was cockeyed. Not sure why but that fixes it for me.
Odessa Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) Thx for your info Toxin , Grendels does the game look better with 7680x1440 My Cpu is a I7 7700k It is all about, i will buy new triple-screen soon . =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) Balanced Graphics setting severely impacts the ability to spot planes and ground targets at distance also removes ability to see 4K skins at all (only possible on Ultra preset)Why not run (should easily be doable on 1080ti and good cpu)- Ultra preset @ 7680x1440(otherwise whats the point)- Distant Landscape X4(With external terrain.cfg pushing all ground Textures to 1024x1024 while 2048x2048 be better the game no longer supports it for terrain textures)- No SSAO,(not visible from the cockpit really)- No HDR, (like all games, Its Fake HDR that just washes out game colours)- Disable bloom in Startup.Cfg- No Ingame AA (MSAA),(If needed just a little external FXAA (high quality than MSAA) or SMAA (the latter being the highest quality)- No Distant grass, (Distant grass set to 1.0m in Startup.cfg)(Normal = 100m, Distant = 300m, Due to buggy grass its FPS hungry setting grass to 1m in config removes most of it and improves fps)- No Ingame Vsync,(External "Fast-sync" is better or that gimmick called "G-sync fake frame buffer" )- FPS Limiter Off,(No need to limit fps with Vsync on)The above settings on a 1080ti and 7700K should pull minimum 150-175 fps without Vsync (if the card and cpu are as claimed)Or with GSync faking it upto 300fps or so if you had a 300hz monitor available otherwise it will just keep you @ Refresh rate just like VsyncModified Terrain.cfg (for max allowable ground detail - With below config detail x 2,3,4 offer same visual quality MAXED out) PixelSize=50 //metersLodCount=5[setup]texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8[end][setup]texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8[end][setup]texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8[end][setup]texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8texlod=8192,8[end] Darn would be nice to fly @ such wide 1440P @ like 300 fps Edited March 28, 2017 by =R4T=Sshadow14
mga Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I used to run IL2 on 7680x1600 on two 980 TI on Ultra. After the Directx 11 update SLI support was not usable anymore but the performance got better. This resulted in me having to run the game on the same resolution but on high rather than ultra. In the meantime however, I switched my monitors to portrait mode so I run IL2 on 4800x1600 on high. I definitely recommend using the three monitors in portrait mode. I didn't expect this, but for sims it's much better like this. The fish eye effect is too great on landscape, and since I was using TrackIR I would end up looking at the middle monitor anyway. I couldn't see chat messages and the right side notifications without turning my head and that resulting in my view being moved (because of the TrackIR) and it made tracking things more difficult. Normal computer use was nicer in landscape mode, but I can live with that

I am very interested in running il2 in portrait mode.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 -snip- 150-175FPS..? Fake news like always. Sshadow doesn't have any of this hardware, has never tested this kind of setup and anything he states regarding it is mere supposition. Did you physically rotate the monitors or is there a way to switch to portrait mode without physically rotating the monitors? I am very interested in running il2 in portrait mode. You would need to rotate the monitor otherwise you're trying to scale "portrait output" to fit in a landscape package.
sinned Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks for the comment. I shouldve been more specific. Can you put 2 each side monitors to portrait mode where edges of each displayed screens are touching the center? In any case, i just turned all monitors physically last nite. Result is superb. 3 monitor on all portrait is much better than 3 landscapes. You can see all screens without turning the head and flight guages are all very visible. B4 i had to look down to see guages but now, I just roll my eyes down. Also for some reason, outside planes look much bigger - easier to aim wo zooming. Thanks for this advice.
