seafireliv Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 (edited) Well after a while away decided to give IL2 a try again... First impressions- Well the graphics have certainly improved... Bogeys appear easy to see now. Eveything looks nicer and more `there`. Sounds are really beefed up; my ears are actually ringing from the engines noise... Also, those cannons are loud as well. I must`ve gone rusty again as it seems really hard to take off in a P40, and it took me ages to finally get the I16 up. Oh well, guess Elite\Dangerous trained me in some bad habits. Sadly, still having issues with the game crashing every time I try to set the pedal sensitivity which is hugely annoying. Hoped that would be fixed. Nice to see a proper career is coming - hope it`ll be dynamic. Perhaps I will get Kuban now. Edited March 22, 2017 by seafireliv
ShamrockOneFive Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Every patch fixes/adds lots of good stuff and that DX11 engine upgrade really did make a big difference. 1
Y29.Layin_Scunion Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Welcome back! Stick around this time It's only going to get better. 1
unreasonable Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I had the same impression as the OP after a long break - and I am sure it is not all placebo effect! I am definitely getting a crisper, clearer look without having altered my settings, which makes the game much more enjoyable to play. All that and some excellent SP content too. Agree about the rustiness as well, especially on take-off 1
Finkeren Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Welcome back. The rustyness on take off might also simply be the new ground physics, which made take off somewhat harder in some aircraft, but almost universally made landings easier (except for the MiG) 1
Guest deleted@50488 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Welcome back ! To the Most Perfect FLIGHT simulator I ever used too :-) I keep uninstalling / re-installing it, simply because I hate war, and air combat, but always fall for it whenever I re-install IL2 :-)))) and then spend endless hours at my PC, feeling at the same time a bit stupid for enjoying playing a war game, but heck! one that above all gives me a trully UNIQUE sensation of flight that NO OTHER flight simulator I have used ( or still use ) can provide...
unreasonable Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 @jcomm - just tell yourself that you are studying war so that you can best understand how to counter it's evil appeal.... 2

(generally talking) If not - oh boy. Youll be wetting your pants. Edited March 22, 2017 by Irgendjemand
Guest deleted@50488 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 (edited) have you tried VR yet.... (generally talking) If not - oh boy. Youll be wetting your pants. I think I'll stay away from it... My neck started to feel painful just after sessions in IL2 with TIR... While using ELITE or AEROWINX, and even FSLABS A320 in Prepar3dv3.4 in 2d panel mode ( the way I like it ... ) having to adapt to TIR took it's time, and my eyes feels stressed after those combat sessions, although it was a lot worst in another combat sim I tried and used for a while ( and dropped to dedicate only to IL-2 Battle of... ) so, I fear feeling dizzy wearing those VR sets, and I would rather invest on a MB + CPU upgrade than in that sort of hardware, but I believe it can be really astounding! I also have Aerofly FS 2 ( although not using it ) and users with VR say it's one of the best in that area too ... Edited March 22, 2017 by jcomm
Irgendjemand Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 If immersion and sense of flight is what youre looking for you cant pass on at least trying it out.Back in the day I had neckache too when using TIR the first time. Was a matter of getting used to and optimize the profile. And getting used to is what it needs with Flightsims as well.Dizziness Is not that big of an issue since you got your cockpit as a reference.Movement in VR is only a problem if you dont have a cockpit around you.IT CAN get a little dizzying thou with extended playsessions. But the eyestrain anyways makes you to breaks more frequently. If you ask me a good thing.Playing for too long in a row isnt healty even without VR so one could go as far and consider this a plus even.
seafireliv Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 Trackir never gave me such problems, love it. VR sounds good but way too expensive right now. I know I have throttles and pedals and TIR and all that stuff, but I got that over time...
