Sim Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Remember the complaints about villages looking all the same and too grid-like? Well, look at this:
ACG_Kraut Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 not a change ... Sure it is, the buildings are now randomly placed, the yards are all different sizes, and there are diagonals and other non-square patterns. I think it looks a lot less "perfect grid" oriented.
Sim Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 To be honest, some of the villages are still grid-like looking (which could also be historical for all I know). So either just a couple of villages were updated or I missed this one from previous sessions. In any case - that one just looks great IMHO. If there were any ground troops/vehicles on that village - you would really need to work hard to spot them.
VR-DriftaholiC Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 The size of the properties need more variety.
TheBlackPenguin Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I rather they follow maps/documents from the period and match that, I have no idea how the villages and towns looked back then in this area.
Georgio Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 The villages/ hamlets of the time were probably just linear arrangements, i.e. a few houses spread along a main road and as the ville grows it does so along the road and not from roads sprouting off from it. Only larger villages would beome nuclear and grow outwards from a centre and even then there would have to be a good reason for it, like a good water supply, bridge or natural shelter. People are naturally lazy so take the easy approach even when town planning... :D
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 they're villages, and snow, and - yaa-aawn - white, white everywhere. Sigh.
