Piekarz Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) I found this feature works great in DCS with TrackIR, keyboard and mouse looking. It's some kind of script that connects the camera rotation to camera position in horizontal movement (camera pivot moves during head rotation). It will be nice to have the same feature in Il2-Bo...When head rotation is more than 90dgr (left, right) camera automaticlly startsto move to the side and your head's POV is over the sholder. It feels more natural and easy to look around. It works great with TrackIR You don't have to use all this Reset buttons True View stuff etc. Edited March 21, 2017 by Piekarz 1 6
BOO Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I'm sure you can - certainly can with Opentrack - its just about the set up in the headtracking software.
Asgar Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 yep, don't just turn your head, move your head to the side a little
Piekarz Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 I understand You miss the topic Guy because It's hard to descirbe in words and pictures.Open DCS rotate camera to check your six, then do the same in BOS.Compare camera behavior in both titles. Doesn't matter that You are using keyborad mouse or 6DOF TIR for looking aroundDCS - camera offsets to sides, simulates the head is attached to the neckand body, feels natural (camera pivot has offset to the camera position)BOS - feels like robot head rotating on static pivot 2
Asgar Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 i don't miss the topic...you're to lazy to move your head sideways. i get it
BOO Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I get you Piekarz You're saying even just using the mouse or keyboard panning the camera transitions as it would with TIR.
[.ID]Rio-06 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Hi Piekarz, I understand your point. I think that feature from DCS will be a very nice addition to IL2 series. When you try to look back to the right, your left shoulder will tend to move forward and the head position changed to the right. Feels more natural, and faster to check your six without having to do 2 movement for trackIR user.
Pupo Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Bumping this thread instead of opening a new one requesting this feature. Cheers! 1
Ehret Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 For keyboard/buttons, you can achieve something like that already - bind simultaneously one key/button to turn left and move head left, then other to turn right and move head right. For a mouse, it will not work because head movements aren't on axis but switches. The simplest alternative is to set suitable snapshots.
Sokol1 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) You already have this on game - is the "translation" movement of camera, combine this in POV HAT pan. http://s23.postimg.org/603mu6ayj/POV_translation.jpg Edited March 10, 2018 by Sokol1
Pupo Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I should have made it clear, that I am a track IR user. cheers 1
19//Moach Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Bumping up again, another vote for this feature! TrackIR in DCS feels a lot more comfortable, as you're not always subconsciously second guessing the position of your neck to avoid unnatural PoVs This has a remarkable effect on the long-term (>1 hour in play) onset of neck muscle strain, which happens whether you realize it or not, as what your brain is seeing contradicts the results expected from proprioception, thus leading to a constant tensioning and consequently to a sore neck hardened stiff. My upper torso muscles highly endorse this feature request! 3
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Sorry, all I can think about when reading this is the following image... Checking 6 was never easy.
Oyster_KAI Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) Really need this feature.....my neck is hurt. If it working like DCS,that will be a big help. And I figure out a solution : use F10 to set wide FOV quick view one by one. now I can bind a hot key on joystick, more comfortable to check six. Edited April 25, 2018 by Takuya_liang

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 A "neck model" or more accurate anthropomorphic camera model was something discussed early in the BOK dev cycle... Not sure it ever made it in. DCS' modeling isn't the golden standard by any means - the camera clipping through the canopy is a major immersion killer.
