HagarTheHorrible Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I hadn't thought about it until someone else mentioned it but would it be fun and reasonable to have an option to be able to use Vive or Touch, or other similar controllers to operate the gunner stations ? Sounds like fun to me and more realistic than either a mouse or joystick. Probably to much trouble at the moment but you never know. If it was workable then I'd be really pleasantly surprised to see it trialed. Shooting using the Touch controllers in other games is just so much more fun, and can be quite a work out depending on the game, than simply pointing and clicking with a mouse. An ArmA type game with hands in the game will be absolutely Mega I'm sure.
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 So you all thought I was barking, an idea that was beyond contempt, worthy of no comment. Here's FROOGLES take on using Oculus Touch ( in this instance) to control things in a VR Sim, I'm not suggesting it's perfect, just that it has some merit. I'm not suggesting it replaces a proper joystick controller but it might be better than using a mouse for other operations, other than piloting and maybe for piloting for those people who have no joystick, didn't 777 spend some effort in getting a good handle on flying the aircraft with a mouse only ?
dburne Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 I am pretty sure it will come at some point ( for VR flight simming), maybe after the devices become more like natural hands ( gloves)... You are right though, playing shooters with the Touch controllers is an absolute blast. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience of using them after getting them. Does a really good job of tracking hand movements.
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 12, 2017 Author Posted April 12, 2017 Given the limitations of using crew weapons at the moment don't you want to just reach out and grab them ? it's just so frustrating knowing how good it could be. I know, a niche within a niche. You just don't know what you're missing until you've given it a go.
OrLoK Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Sounds good to me! As with everything, it would depend on how its implemented. Manipulating pistols to LMG's in H3VR shows it can be done realistically and done well
