III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Had recently had my Battle of Moscow license transferred to Steam, and now the game doesn't recognise my TM Warthog. TrackIR works as normal, but I cannot program any inputs. Initially I deleted the contents of my input folder, but that did not work. I have now reinstalled the game after uninstalling and re-downloading. After uninstalling, I deleted the remaining game folder and ran CCleaner to remove any registry keys. I restarted the PC and then reinstalled the game. Still not response from the HOTAS. Please advise.
unreasonable Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I do not have the same stick so can only say generally that when I have had controller input issues before it was reinstalling the controller software and recalibrating the stick that did the job, nothing in the game itself. A few things to look at: Do you have other Steam games that use the stick? Is it working properly in them? Is it working in your calibration software ouside the game? And slightly silly - did you ensure that you checked the joystick option when you reinstalled and are not in mouse control mode? In the settings - key bindings do you have conflicting assignments? Anyway good luck - that problem sounds super annoying: technical problems always seem to coincide with periods when you have the time and desire to do some serious gaming!
III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 19, 2017 Author Posted March 19, 2017 I have used the HOTAS in Star Citizen, with no problems. I have checked the box for Joystick control, not mouse control. I don't use TARGET for Warthog. Windows calibration and feedback works fine.
III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 19, 2017 Author Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) Tried differernt USB ports. Still no good. Really annoying. Raising support ticket. Must add that my Saitek rudder peddles are not responsive either. Edited March 19, 2017 by astrospud
III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 Raised a support ticket a week ago, suggested methods to get my HOTAS working failed to do just that. After the suggestion that maybe the read only nature of the game folders may be blocking the adjusting of the configs, I attempted to change the read only status of the game folders. This did not work, as I change the attributes, they immediately revert to Read Only. After mentioning this in reply to my ticket (and no, I wasn't rude) , I'm met only with silence. Dev support for this title is lacking, so I'll ask the community: Has anyone been able to change the read only attribute of the game folders to mitigate any bugs/issues you may have had?
Sokol1 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Probable you install the game inside STEAM default folder, in Program Files and Windows UAC are blocking change in config files, due is lack of "authority" from your user account. Try set STEAM shortcut for "Run as administrator". Or try creating a folder in root o C: or better D:, E:.. name this STEAM Games and when install BoS point this folder.
III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 Reinstalled in different folder, as suggested, no result. Steam executable to run as Admin, same: no result. Ran game executable as Admin, no result. Read Only attribute is stuck. This really is pissing me off. I've asked via my ticket whether I can get a roll back to the previous build, to see if 2.08 has broken my game.
FlyingH Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 This is not a game issue, it is a M$ UAC issue! Find your UAC settings and turn the shit off! It keeps you from "doing bad things" to windows according to M$ but it hinders you from using your PC the way you want to!
III/JG11_Spud_VR Posted March 25, 2017 Author Posted March 25, 2017 It isn't UAC, because I've always had it switched off. It must be a game issue, because my HOTAS WAS working on the previous build, now it's not. All other games that use analogue input give feedback as expected, all except Il2 BOS.
