HagarTheHorrible Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) I know e-mail is all the rage but what are you're impressions of the combat envelope, by which I mean spotting, distance, difficulty, recognition etc etc ? My thoughts would be that it's quite difficult to spot contacts or follow or distinguish between sides at anything other than short to medium range. RoF seemed better at this for some reason, I could usually tell from some distance, far better than any other sim, what a bogie was. With BoS that isn't so easy, it might just be because I don't have a feel for the differences yet or maybe they are just far more similar in shape. There are situations in which I think I should clearly be able to distinguish a contact from the land or sky but for some reason it tends to blend into the background, I don't know if it's aliasing or shimmer (even against the sky) or something else, but if I particularly have a contact close to pointing towards me he looks less solid and hard to distinguish. This would, i guess, be typically at around about the reasonble maximum shooting range. Given the effort put into creating the shiny skins it would be nice to have some glints to help with spotting or even some sort of glow, (for some reason the water, ice reflections come to mind), just something to distinguish the aircraft from the dull matt background and make tracking it in a dogfight,a bit easier. SYN_Vorlander Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Hagar, I think the speed of the moving objects is making it harder to identify the aircraft in BOS.
Sim Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I think there is some bug with spotting, check this video, can you see those friendly planes without max zoom? (I know YouTube is hardly a good place to show this).. but still, watch in HD: http://youtu.be/Gj67-3dOVow
