ioh_ Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Not sure what engine controls I'm messing up here, but I can't maintain level flight for more than a few minutes without pushing my engine to the limit. Any longer, I get major engine failure. If I set the throttle too low, I start to dump altitude and can't maintain my approach. What am I doing wrong here? Anyone else have these issues?
Scojo Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) The binds you need for this plane during flight are: Throttle RPM Radiators For climb I use 85% throttle and 85% RPM with full radiators ( I think you can go 90% throttle and still stay in climb mode) For continuous I use 76% throttle and 76% RPM and close the radiators some to get a good reading for the temperatures. In all honestly though, I'll leave them at 100% until I need the speed, but speed isn't really going to save you in this plane anyway. Plus I'm not so sure radiators in this plane affect speed that much. These probably don't match well with the recommended RPM and Manifold Pressure given for each mode in the specifications tab, but they work and I haven't bothered changing it. Make sure you're not taking full fuel. Most multiplayer flights wont need more than 50% and if you're taking a heavy bomb load, lowering your fuel as much as possible is important. curiousGamblerr Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Scojos info is probably fine, but it's also not hard to match the manifold and RPM specs for continuous and climb mode as found on the wiki: https://il2sturmovik.gamepedia.com/Ju_87_D-3
ioh_ Posted March 17, 2017 Author Posted March 17, 2017 I guess it was the RPM then? I had it at 50% throttle and was still in emergency mode or something redic. I'll go ahead and try again with the throttle / rpm matched. Radiators likely had something else to do with it. Thanks.
Scojo Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 No problem. Glad I could help. Just in case, this post I made for someone else might help you as well.
