Joystick extension

I know the warthog can be extended, but what other sticks are designed to be extended? And has anyone done a diy job on a stick that was not designed to be extended?

I have seen some homemade mods for the X55, and there are some others. I suggest you visit the DCS World Forums and do a little searching, you'll find quite a few threads re. joystick extensions.

Is ways more complicated than do a DIY extension for Warthog using Gardena hose connector nut and PS2 cable because in X-55 the nut and connector use proprietary format.

 

But doable, depends on your DIY skill.

 

Not exactly a how to for X-55 extension but this guy did some mod in then - before move for a Baur BRD-DS Raven base.

BTW - Warthog gimbal was not designed to be extended - don't consider the extra effort of this -  but due the easiness to do became a lucrative business for 3rd party, and benefits this oystick use due their gimbal design flaws (stiction, "lock"...)

 

The firsts joystick gimbal really designed to be extended is Bauer BRD-N Storch and VKB Gunfighter.

One other problem might be that the extension might render the HOTAS buttons on the joystick base out of convenient reach...depending on the length of the extension, obviously.

For one with DIY skill for make a extension - require solder tools and ability with - migrate the base buttons for a "panel switch" to put in accessible place will be easy.
