II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I'm at work at the moment so am just checking this page in between jobs, but just quickly here's a some shots. I forgot to mention that there were some bare metal American Spits and I was wrong, I have seen a bare metal Vb! (see below) h/t to Duggy at A&A for the first two. War Weary 14th PRS Vb used as a hack: 14th PRS PR.XI late war RAAF Mk.VIII RAAF Vc The hack appears to be bare metal but the rest seem to be silver doped. I don't want to hijack the thread futher. So, thanks for entertaining the topic for a bit.
Tag777 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 And last but not the least, Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb is nearly finished - our engineers are polishing its flight characteristics to make them as close to reference as possible while artists are adding final touches to its cockpit textures. Yesterday we completed its skins you can see right now. We hope that the update 2.011 that will give you Spitfire Mk.Vb will be released this month as it was planned initially. This is what was published today in Developer Diary 160. The bold part gives the impression that the update could be released this month as they say, but neither does it. It seems that they plan to launch several things at a time that can delay the deployment of the Spit
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Two weeks, be sure...................................
Tuesday Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I have faith we'll see it this month. It is only the first of June, afterall. If not, at least they are taking the care to release a finished product. The skins look fantastic. Different from what I expected.
Bullets Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 I wish they just released stuff when it is finished and not wait for other stuff to release at the same time. Like when they released the summer & autumn maps, we had to wait ages for the autumn map to be finished before they released the summer map That said I am killing all hype for the Spitfire and accepting it will come when the devs are done with it

Bullets Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 The Spit is coming exactly when Jason said it would be coming back in that livestream: It has always been scheduled for a June release. I know I know, just like i was saying I got my hopes up for an early release when they were ahead of schedule with past aircraft releases but work has slowed and gone back to schedule
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Probably my fault for speculating that they were ahead of schedule. They were slightly but only on planes that already had earlier versions. I mean they blasted through the Bf109G-4, Bf110G-2, FW190 and even the He111H-16 fairly quickly... but all of those are smaller jobs (though maybe not as small as we sometimes think) compared to a whole new plane. We got the IL-2 Model 1943 with some pretty cool features (PTABs notably) right on schedule in the last month. The Spitfire appears to also be on schedule. That's good news!
Gambit21 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Two weeks, be sure................................... I don't know why, but this always get's a laugh out of me. Good ol Oleg.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I giggled writing it. I think it may be the first time I dropped that one in these forums.
Brano Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 My workload this month is full of workshops and serial production trials (anyone buying new Porsche Cayenne?) that I will probably miss also this update. 3rd in the row :D
Dutchvdm Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 My workload this month is full of workshops and serial production trials (anyone buying new Porsche Cayenne?) that I will probably miss also this update. 3rd in the row :D Hi Brano, Do you work in Bratislava? My brother worked there for a while during the development of the last Touareg. Grt M

Brano Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Hi Brano, Do you work in Bratislava? My brother worked there for a while during the development of the last Touareg. Grt M No,I work in Kosice, extreme east of Slovakia. We are VW supplier of the leather interiors, including new Cayenne. But im quite often at their assembly plant during cubing sessions
Tag777 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) A fictional winter camo would be nice P.S.: Of course there were no winter skin for the Russian Spits, but it could be considered, taking into account that the number of Spitfires Vb in the VVS and, obviously their skins variants were few. CanadaOne Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Is the BOK map still due for July? That is the one that will push me over the "buy now" ledge.
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 If you buy it now, you'll still get it later 2
CanadaOne Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Indeedely-doodely. But it's $90Cdn. and I'm building my new rig piece by piece, and the price of BOK is the same cost as the RAM I still need to buy. I want the new rig so I can fly BOK in all its mountainous glory.
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Is the BOK map still due for July? That is the one that will push me over the "buy now" ledge. We haven't heard much about the map in a little while but if the schedule holds... July it is! If BoM is any indicator we'll get the map and then see a few upgrades before its considered finished. They made a big deal about getting the general foilage of the forests in the different sectors of the map using real data to populate with deciduous and coniferous trees in the right places. I'm expecting they will be tweaking Kuban as we go along too. Indeedely-doodely. But it's $90Cdn. and I'm building my new rig piece by piece, and the price of BOK is the same cost as the RAM I still need to buy. I want the new rig so I can fly BOK in all its mountainous glory. IMHO, get the RAM first and do the pre-order/early access in July/August I'm thinking I may add two more sticks to make 16GB before too long. 8GB of DDR4 is fine but I could use a bit more. 1
Herne Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 I honestly can't wait to take her for a spin, I've literally been dreaming about it recently, what with VR being so good and all.
ITAF_Rani Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 IT IS JUNE! DAMNIT!!! WHY ARE WE WAITING???? WE'VE PAID UPFRONT!!! WHY IS IT LATE??? Dendro are you waiting to meet spit in WOL ? :-))))
fergal69 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Was in a Works bookshop the other day & picked up this book on the Spitfire.
Bullets Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 I've got my fingers and toes crossed for this release this week 1
OrLoK Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Was in a Works bookshop the other day & picked up this book on the Spitfire. any good? A store near me sells a range of those but I was unsure as to whether I should have delved in or not?
fergal69 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 It covers the Spitfire IIA & IIB Merlin XII engine. Chapters are; Pilot's notes Pilots flying log book Pilot's personal combat report Aircraft movement card Forget me nots for fighters General notes on air gunnery & air fighting Bag the Hun Warplanes - card game for aircraft spotters It caught my attention, so had a quick flick through & for £3.00 you can't go wrong. Another interesting book for £3.00 is Wings on my Sleeve. It's a book about test pilot Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown who flew pratically all German WWII planes.

J5_HellCat_ Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 A total of eleven Spitfires were delivered to Russia. Bet we see a few more on the servers the first day of release
DD_Arthur Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Shouldn't that read 'A total of eleven photo-reconnaissance Spitfires were delivered to Russia?
Finkeren Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Yeah, those 11 are the PRs. There were 149 Mk. Vbs (most of which saw action) and well over 1000 Mk. IXs (hardly any of which saw action)

IXs (hardly any of which saw action) Seems strange to have so many mk IX's and not use them ? Any idea how this came to be ? I'd love to see a MK IX find its way into this great game.

IIRC they were relegated to the PVO mostly, where they performed home defense duties, so they were definitely used. But since the Luftwaffe didn't really do any bombing of strategic targets far behind the front lines at that point in the war, they saw very little combat.
Brano Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) MkIXs were relegated to the PVO units. Mainly due to the high altitude performance of their engines comparing to what soviets had readily available.Even LF versions were better then those few remaining MiG-3s in 1944.They served in PVO well into early 50s,being consequently replaced by first jets. ITAF_Rani Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 MAYBE Spitfire this week? I look forward to try it soon..
Finkeren Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) MAYBE Spitfire this week? I look forward to try it soon.. Nah, probably not until the last week of June going by the language in the latest DD. I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised though. Edited June 8, 2017 by Finkeren
Trooper117 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Ah, Fink... you already have the plane that 'won' the war, the Mig-3... so you are a happy teddy. For us mere mortals, waiting for that Spitfire is something that is difficult to endure. 1

For us mere mortals, waiting for that Spitfire is something that is difficult to endure. Since I can't even land the MiG properly, I'm actually not flying that beauty as much as I ought to. Looking forward to the Spit. I'm sure it'll be fun.
ShamrockOneFive Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 We still haven't seen the cockpit. Hopefully we'll see that and then I'll start a two week countdown
Y29.Layin_Scunion Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Any major differences between the Spit I/II and the Mk V? Or is it more or less just a higher boosted engine? Gauges/cockpit roughly the same as a Mk II? I have flown them plenty in Cliffs. Just curious as to how it will compare.
