-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) One thing the Avia guys managed to really enhance about the Bf 109 though: canopy design! (in some of them) Edited May 12, 2017 by -=PHX=-SuperEtendard
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 It's kind of weird thinking about the Israelis establishing their Nation with Machines their People built as Slave Labourers but even weirder to think that they would have had to Un-Sabotage them first. Just think that a Slave Labourer would painstakingly and at risk of immediate death work in little weaknesses, Glue Teeth on Gears etc. just to Post-War kill a Comrade of his in the attempt to Establish a Safe Heaven for his, at that Point, Murderer. Bitter Sweet.
-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Too bad the rest of the plane was rubbish. von Luck The engine was bad... the rest of the plane not so much... Imagine having Fw 190 D's Jumo instead of Ju-87's I wish I could unsee this atrocity! Imho it looks cool, it gives it a "more powerful" touch to the plane (even though it was the contrary lol).
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 It's kind of weird thinking about the Israelis establishing their Nation with Machines their People built as Slave Labourers but even weirder to think that they would have had to Un-Sabotage them first. All Avia S-199 were completed in Czech after the war from either partly built airframes in germany or leftover sub parts after the war. Only a limited number could be built using the Jumo 211 because it was availabel in greater supply. Unfortunately the conversion meant the aircraft lost performence and became more unreliable. In the 50s some of them were sold to Israel to establish their airforce where it fought alongside and against Spitfires. For the purpose of building up a simple airforce using recycling parts it did suprisingly well and doesn't look too bad.
Guest deleted@30725 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 One thing the Avia guys managed to really enhance about the Bf 109 though: canopy design! (in some of them) What is going on here. The plane is ready at full power, or some power stopped with chocks OK - But what of the kid looking out the window. Where is the pilot, is that the engineer standing on the wing. He looks like he's outside the pit. standing, looking through the canopy to the photographer. Technically it's the pilot? But the angles look too weird. It's freaking me out looking at it.
BlitzPig_EL Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 The Israeli pilots that flew the S-199 said of it that it tried to kill them every time they flew it. However, it is what they had, and they made the best of it.
Bullets Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 I am so ready for our Spit... It started FM development the same time as the il2 so I would think it might be done pretty soon? UUUUUHHHHH
Jade_Monkey Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I am so ready for our Spit... It started FM development the same time as the il2 so I would think it might be done pretty soon? UUUUUHHHHH Well the IL2 was probably tweaked from the existing IL2 models while the spit is being built from scratch. it makes sense that it takes longer.
Bullets Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Ah yeah I didn't think about that, however did you see they accidentally released a flyable spit with the latest patch? They hot fixed it pretty quickly though! So that makes me think its hopefully nearly done

Bullets Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Wish someone managed to get some screens or recorded a flight
Willy__ Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Wish someone managed to get some screens or recorded a flight If you selected the spit the game would crash, guess thats why theres no screens/videos
xThrottle_Geek Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Seeing as how its next on the list for release, next month if I'm not mistaken, we can expect some screenshots sometime in the next few weeks. Preferably with a variety of skins..
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I'd be fine with its scheduled release date of June but late May would be nice!
Herne Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I think when the spit arrives, I'm going to defect over to the Russian side 2
Bullets Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 If it flies well I certainly think it will be the only fighter I fly any more... Will still do the odd bombing run though
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I will use it mainly as a Jabo. 4 MGs and 2 Cannons and Low Wingloading should make it interesting for Ground Pounding.
Finkeren Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I will use it mainly as a Jabo. 4 MGs and 2 Cannons and Low Wingloading should make it interesting for Ground Pounding. For about 5 seconds it'll be alright, then the HS cannons run out and you're left with pea shooters. 1
A_radek Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I think when the spit arrives, I'm going to defect over to the Russian side And this is why I have been looking forward to it for so long. If the onliners follow your example (for more than the initial few days)., I can finally fly a 109 without the guilt of stacking blue side team even more. For about 5 seconds it'll be alright, then the HS cannons run out and you're left with pea shooters. Were there any popular VVS field modifications done to it? Curious what to expect in terms of load out options. Shedding the mg's could be interesting in terms of initial roll-rate and weight savings.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Well judging after great popularity of other land lease plane I do hope it will be useful plane...
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Why sby should use the Spitfire for ground attack when there is a P-39 capeable of doing a better job in nearly every regard is somewhat beyond me. Can't wait to get target practise on those nicely big elliptical wings. Edited May 16, 2017 by 6./ZG26_5tuka
Finkeren Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Why sby should use the Spitfire for ground attack when there is a P-39 to do the job better is somewhat beyond me. Well, at launch the won't be a P-39. Still, the P-40 is a vastly superior ground attack AC.
ITAF_Rani Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) I found this article related to Spitfire in Kuban, don't know if it was already posted. Here the link http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/spit/ Edited May 16, 2017 by ITAF_Rani 1
Herne Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I found this article related to Spitfire in Kuban, don't know if it was already posted. Here the link http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/spit/ Awesome read, particularly enjoyed this bit :- Here it should be noted that an encounter with the British aircraft was unexpected not only for the pilots of the neighboring regiment but also for the Luftwaffe pilots. They were quite familiar with this aircraft type, but none of them had expected to see it on the Eastern front. Here is how Gunther Rall recalls this episode. I wrote a summary of the battle, in which I noted the appearance of the Spitfires on the Eastern front. My group commander asked me for the time being not to discuss what had happened. Perhaps you were mistaken, Rall? All this will only alarm your comrades. I responded that it was more likely that tomorrow we would encounter a large number of Spitfires in our sector of the front.
Tag777 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Well, I hope the update with the Spit came before June. It would be a very nice surprise Edited May 16, 2017 by Tag777
ITAF_Rani Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 (edited) Here instead info related to P39 Aircobra http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/romanenko/p-39/ Edited May 16, 2017 by ITAF_Rani
Tag777 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Here instead info related to P39 Aircobra http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/articles/romanenko/p-39/ This is really the plane I am waiting for!! But it will take time to get used to its peculiarly flight characteristics (at least according to the material posted).
DD_Arthur Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I assume the Spit will be the first plane released with the "new" flight model?
Trooper117 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Yes, the Spit and the P-39 are the two aircraft I'm really excited about... I loved flying them both in the old IL2 years ago. Can't wait to see them reborn in the new game
Bullets Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 Well, I hope the update with the Spit came before June. It would be a very nice surprise Seeing as it started FM work aggeeesss ago it should certainly be done soon!
-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Having Yaks TKing the Spits once released would be historically accurate  1
Finkeren Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) Yeah the P-39 is the major star of the BoK show. Still, anyone claiming that they aren't even a tiny bit excited to try out the Spit are kidding themselves. Edited May 17, 2017 by Finkeren
A_radek Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Yeah the P-39 is the major star of the BoK show. Still, anyone claiming that they aren't even a tiny bit excited to try out the Spit are kidding themselves. Of course we all are. I consider it a beautiful aircraft, though more in a civilian/sport type of way with guns strapped on, compared to the mean-purposeful-fighter-look the 109 has. I also consider it's legendary status amongst aviation enthusiasts tiresome. But that's probably me being a mid-war aircraft snob. Still it's a spitfire. The thing I collected posters of as a kid and had 1/72 plastic models off it hanging from the ceiling. Every time I'm in London watching that mkII hanging from the ceiling in the imperial war museum, with it's wear and tear preserved from ww2, I get the shivers. 1
Bullets Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 Having Yaks TKing the Spits once released would be historically accurate  Hopefully no one is going to mistake those beautiful big wings though If you selected the spit the game would crash, guess thats why theres no screens/videos I think I saw someone managed to get it flying, possibly as an AI though.. However I may be mistaken
