Look guys please try to remember..

.. that this is an ALPHA.... it isn't even a BETA... so posting your opinions on things is fine and wanted.. but please try to not be hysterical or insulting.. I have seen several posts that from the titles on are just begging for controversy. You can state your case without being rude, condescending or inflammatory... So if you have an issue.. just state it without the hysterics .. If you think it is a bug put it in the Bug Reports thread. All this drama will only stir the pot and cause bickering as opposed to fostering discussion .. or even debate!!

 

This sim is now 35% complete ... Think of anything .. that is only 35% completed from software to a device, a meal anything..... and ask yourself just how enjoyable it would be... Relax.. enjoy the weekend.. and remember we are still what .. at least 3 months out from having a finished product.

If we are less than 6 months out I'll be amazed. A year wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm very happy with what we have and learning as I go.

 

I do have concerns but I'm very confident them team will address them and produce an awesome sim! They seem to love it too rather than rushing a product out. We know people like LOFT love online flying so they're like us.

You are correct of course. With that said though there is a very distinct segment of this community that for some reason or other wants nothing more than to see it fail so people continue playing their mod or the game they really like. as such, they will find every little tid bit to point at and say "SEE I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD SUCK! LOOK AT THIS!" case in point, some of the wording in a few of the threads we have seen since weapon systems went live. Posted by people who have never once fired a tracer round in their life mind you. Are there things that need adjustment? yip, of course there are. but with that said the title in its current state is, I believe, far and away better than CLoD TF 4, or WT, or really any ww2 sim on the market right now. 

 

the sad thing is that for some reason or other, that group will never be satisfied. I mean its one thing to report bugs in a constructive and thought provoking manner. its another thing to see some of the threads we have seen this latest itteration of alpha access.

The animation is fluid and life-like. Love the attention of details, like the still spinning wheels just after the landing gears are retracted, and you can stop them spinning by applying brakes?!

This is going to be an excellent product which is made people who are passionate about what they're doing.

 

BoS really made me more excited, surprisingly more than a yet to be released MMO space sim which I spent nearly 10x more. Following closely the dev update now and can't what's waiting for us in the next early access.

 

Lotsa things need to be done and keep the good things coming.

In all candor there was an awful lot of acrimony and whining from a select few in the IL2:CoD forums prior to the games release. It's almost a polar opposite of what you mention, MG-Cacti. Some of those whining the loudest and sometimes with great vitriol about CoD development are now praising the development of CoD. They expressed their displeasure in much the same tone as a few of the recent posts that have been shut down. It's not like this anything new. I for one am glad that the moderators and developers are trying to nip the rude behavior in he bud. I don't think they are overstepping the bounds of stifling free speech, but instead trying to ward off rude and immature posts. After all this is an ALPHA and more important a common community.  We will all find issues that need to be sorted out and doing so in a grown up fashion makes every body's experience on the forum more pleasant.

I personally think your rant is unfounded, but that is just me. I have been following this forum closely and have not see that type of behavior - yeah sure there are one or two that say, what the heck is with this issue? - but at least I have not seen it to this type of extreme, it has mostly been very constructive feedback that I can tell.

When folks have tried to come in and start that type of behavior, the mods have been very good about nipping it in the bud.

It will likely take the full (and hopefully successful) release of BoS and the continued development of the CoD patches before this community can put at least most of the hard feelings to bed for good. Some on both sides never will. Those few idiots hopefully go away on their own and leave the rest of us to enjoy simming.

For me that is irrelevant .. what happened at CoD.  I just want here to go well.. and folks can criticize and discuss and even debate.. just do so n a way that will promote discussion.. No one wants to nurture an army of yes men.. and as good as this team is.. they will not please everyone even in the final release.. but for now all criticisms of this sim must be tempered with the idea that it is indeed an Alpha and that is why we are here.. to find these things and offer up constrictive, effective  feedback to the devs and enlighten each other to the things we find.. not to just find flaws and wave them around..
