No Custom Settings in Campaign Mode any more ?

Custom settings and custom skins seem to be disabled in campaign mode now.

 

I was wondering why that was....and is it necessary ?

It's always been like that.

 

It's one of those strange design decisions that has carried over from BoS.

 

Not much point in changing it now, since the campaign will be replaced by the new career mode in half a year anyway.

I wish they keep the old campaign somewhere or maybe mix it with QMB, i kind of like it sometimes.

Dont get me wrong, the current campaign is not really a campaign for me but i would like to have access to it when i want to just fly a quickmission with a bit more options.

For excample first the presets like escort and the like then let us choose how many enemys and there skill level and so on just like we have in QMB and then maybe some more options like idk, QM coop or something in that direction.

Oh ok I had thought I had used them in the campaign mode. I guess I mustn't have...

You could use them in any scripted campaign. But they are not available in the current main campaign mode.

But... you can fly the campaign on "Normal" mode and then just disable the navigation aids, HUD elements, engine limiters (to give you all the complex engine management). I do it like this (partly because I like to have the icons available at the flick of a switch if I want to - ahem - cheat!).

Thanks Swallow that's probably what I should do...not just the icons it's the external views... to check where my hits landed, watch bombs go off....whether I turned my lights off, etc.

External views is also an important reason why I do the campaign on "Normal".

 

Talking of which... for online play, I loved the mod for il2'46 (or was it CloD?) whereby you could disable external views (i.e. the dreaded F6 external lock - if I remember correctly) in mission, but have externals re-enabled after landing or death, so you could spectate after you'd finished your flight. I'd love for something similar to be introduced in BoX.

 

[by the way, I've mapped my  automatic mixture, radiator, and rpm controls to a single key, for easy disabling. Works like a charm.]

Have you tried PWCG?

PWCG is good but my squadron gets migs too soon (for me) or I get one of those missions that is near to impossible or requires unrealistic levels of heroism to get back to base...

 

I would like to see a scripted campaign that conveys some of the desperation and panic of the withdrawal and consolidation of defenses near Moscow....so a bit of a narrative that you don't get with PWCG (and well designed missions of various

 

kinds that you can choose to replay when you want to).

 

I think the I-16 deserves one......... (so far I haven't made much progress trying to make one myself).

You should make a request in the mission making and mission editor section
