UTC - wireless tracking device, alternative to TrackIR

Just found it today at SimHQ forums.

I thing this might be something to consider buying. Way cheaper than TrackIR.

I suggest you take a closer look: this replaces the clip (the part with LEDs that attaches to your headphones) not the entire TrackIR.

Yep, this is just a wireless pro clip someone made for TIR. Never saw a point in the pro clip tbh, the included clip works just fine and not only doesn't have wires, it doesn't need batteries either.

You only need a webcam and any free tracking software that you can find out there. Also it does work with TrackIR infrared camera.

And it is wireless... 19 hours on one charge!

Regardless, it isn't a 'wireless tracking device'. The thread title is misleading.

Supposedly Pro Clip is much smoother than default Clip and has wider range of motion.

Anyway, is anybody using this new wireless third-party UTC Pro Clip ? I am about to pull the trigger on it to make my experience smoother. Also I hate wires & overpaying for the original Pro Clip.

Yep, it works very well. It's better than the Pro Clip in usage, in my experience, and built about 1000x more robustly. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I'm using it with wireless Steelseries Arctis 7 headset and it's perfect. I previously had the standard clip and buying this really made a difference as it makes watching around much more smooth and you'll never lose track. 100% recommend it.

I have the UTC II Regular model on a wireless Corsair headset and love it.  No more wires, which used to catch on things at the wrong moment.  I have TrackIR 5 with the clip, and the Delan clip package with the PS3 camera.  I liked the Delan over the TrackIR clip because it's sturdier and seems to track better.  The UTC tracks just as good or better than those two in my opinion.  I use the UTC II, the PS3 camera, with Opentrack.  Shipping took less than a week to Arizona.

 

Also, you can run make a quick pitstop without having to disconnect wiring.
