Desperate plea for help trying to use a flight stick with BoS

Very rarely do I use game forums but unfortunately I've developed Tourette's from the frustration of getting this game to work with a joystick. I have a thrustmaster T flight X stick which miraculously I managed to get working once yesterday.

A few things worth noting

1. I have the steam version of IL-2 BoS, dont know if that makes any difference but I do have a ps4 controller I use with a dongle, I have tried unplugging the adaptor to make sure il-2 only sees the mouse, keyboard and joystick. I have restarted the PC, turned if off at the mains and on again, seems to make no difference. I've even disabled steam overlay too but alas no use

2. joystick is ticked in the settings as opposed to mouse

3. I have the most recent drivers for the joystick, like I said I got it working yesterday and it is working with other games bar this and rise of flight, which is interesting as I think rise of flight is by the same dev?

4. I've reset all the controls too

I've retraced the steps I used yesterday to get the joystick to work however it just flat out refuses.

Honestly I really want to play this game and I was even contemplating getting a much better joystick, but it would only be used for this game and rise of flight, but the fact I'm having so much trouble with this is rather offputting

Please if anyone's had any trouble setting up a flight stick please comment, I'm willing to try anything to get it to work :(

Since your joystick work OK for other flight games, is just matter to manually assign axes and buttons for T Flight X in BoS options.

In Key Mapping assign joystick axis for Pitch, Roll and Yaw and Engine Throttle. Click in "S" icon ahead axis name and test moving the joystick.

Let's narrow it down.  First, let's rule out a hardware or driver issue.

What version of windows are you running?

If you go into the Control Panel there's a thing you can find that shows all the input devices.  In Windows 10 it's "devices and printers", and in Windows 7 I forget what it's called.  You should be able to right-click on your joystick's icon and go to "game controller settings".  Then you can view the stick's properties and see if the inputs are working properly.  See the attached pics for what it looks like for my rudder pedals (stick wasn't plugged in when I took the screenshot).

If you plug your stick in and go into this menu and move your stick around, do the little indicators respond?
