Dear IL2 Sturmovik Team,

at first sorry for my english i am german ;)

I found this error in the italian sturmovik forum!!!

Unfortunately, I have the same problem. My gtx 780 caused the same problem. Only I use win7 ultimate and not 10.  (A friend of mine has almost the same system.

He has only a gtx 980. Also Win7 Ultimate. No problem  ) Something with the gtx 7XX's ???

Before the last update I had no problems playing the game!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After your update:

When I start the game, everything goes normal. After 1 to 5 minutes flight, the game crashes.

error message: DxBufferMan11:vb(,,)

                            DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

What I've tried:

at first i reinstall the Windows KB2670838 only to make sure!

Trying.....NO!!

installed new nvidia driver V.378.66  The old one was V.377.3..  (need them for Bf1 ;))

Trying.....NO!!

reinstall DirectX from gamepath..

Trying.....NO!!

rename startup.cfg into startup.cfg.BAK restart  game! So new startup.cfg is written..    ( Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data )

Trying.....No!!

reinstall the Game!!

Trying....No!!

.......................................................................................................................................................................

What I would like to try next:

Try older Nvidia drivers!   I wil report you!!!

I've got no ideals left...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you guys get it. It would be a pity not to be able to fly anymore. Love all your flying games so much. :)

And it cost 60 euros ;)

Bought the Game game via steam !

Intel I7 @4,0; 8GB; GTX780; SSD_Sys; SSD_Games; Win7 Ultimate; using TrackIR and X52 Pro

I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks

Shame you are having problems. Here are a few things from the top of my head you can try:)

Try playing another game for a bit and see if it crashes. I see from Google that some people have had similar failures across games.

Do a clean install of the graphics drivers, using the DDU driver removal software (free online, no installation). It removes every trace of the Gpu driver and software.

Also try running dxdiag to make sure there are no errors.

If other games crash too, and DDU fails maybe as a last resort you could try reseating your gpu? Could be a contact issue, although I would expect the pc to turn off if that happens.

Thank you guys,

I just figured it out. Have tried nvidia drivers 350.12. The game ran without problems.

So nvidia should fix the new drivers for Gtx7XX series   Some 7xx players have to push all the drivers back and forth to play your game and others. Hmmm!!

I do not think they're going to do it.

Nvidia should know that. You can do more pressure than we do.

Big thanks for the quick help

I will still test the 368.81 as described in the link.

First, I'm sorry for my English (I'm using google translator).

Apparently Il-2 BoS does not work well with the geforce700 series, only if you use legacy drivers.

I use a geforce gtx780 VGA and it did not take more than five minutes in the game, so unintentionally I discovered a possible solution. This problem seems to be with .dll files, so what I did was download a program called "depends" and in it it was possible to see which dll's were missing or defective I just had to download them and paste them in the windows system folders (32 and 64bit) .

So far it has worked well and without crashes and with the latest driver from nvidia.
Look for tutorials about the program is very practical to use.
Good fight!

Please comment this in the Bugs and Errors section of this forum, there is a special thread for it. It would be very helpful if you did that. :)

It might also be helpful to post which dll's you were missing.  I know it may not be the same for everyone, but it will be an important step to finding a solution.

Sorry I posted there in the topic on the problem of users of the line geforce700 series, but again I do not know if it is a definitive solution just worked well for me.

Dude, the program that I quoted is just for this rsrs. It shows you exactly which dll files are in trouble. Just download the dll file version compatible with your PC and be happy ... or not.

That's right!!

Sassus, so after you applied this program you no longer experience IL-2 crashing to desktop after prolonged playing, right? Have you been able to play long?

I've been with this problem for months. I used a geforce gtx650 and never had any problems, but it was to start using the gtx780 that the problems started.

Until yesterday I saw a video on YT (a channel in Brazil where I live) talking about error 0xc000007b that tmb is related to errors in directX and microsoft run time. Then I followed the tutorial and I was downloading file by file until the game opened normally and being possible to play.

How I did it last night I tested for about 20 minutes or so after I went to sleep before I did not stay for 5 minutes. When I get home from work, I'll test it more calmly and post the results. And once again I apologize for the English (I use google translator, because my English is very poor rsrs).

Thanks for your explanation, btw it's quite understandable, and I am looking forward to more results from you, as I think 20 minutes playtime is not enough to be sure the problem is really solved.. The crashes on GTX780 seem to occur randomly, sometimes after only 2-3 minutes, sometimes after around 20-30 minutes but as far as I know, it will always have crashed after about 30 minutes.

Please post more results!

Well, what I can say is unfortunately that the problem has not been remedied, but it is intermittent. I was able to play a few times for over 40 minutes without problems (This is also the average time I play) and at other times it was only 20 or 30 min before leaving the game. Remembering that I only tested in singleplay in multiplay I did not test. So for now I'll leave it like this and test other possibilities. Anything new I'll post here again.

What I can safely say is that at least something different happened when I used the "depends" program to find and repair defective dll files, Because before could not play nor 5 minutes!

In my case there were several .dll files. There is no way to tell which specific file, since it was more than fifteen files!

What I can say is that most are related to directX and microsoft visual.

What I noticed when the crash appears is something related to the Landscape.dll file. Maybe part of the mystery is there.

Edited- This is dll files:

Thanks, that is very helpful.  Since it is a friend of mine having the problem not me, I cant run the test on my system.  Your list may help motivate him to run the test as well.

I would like to bump this thread again as I am currently experiencing the same problem. I'm running a 780ti and experiencing the same crash. Interestingly for me the crash only occurs during flight. I can stay on the runway for as long as I like but after 5-10 mins of flight it crashes as described above.

I have yet to try the partial solution above but will attempt it and report back. That being said, it is only a partial solution and simply delays the problem from occurring. Are any devs looking at these threads?

Edit: I wanted to add that when I first ran the game I received a pop up notification in steam that with my current GPU drivers this game is known to crash when connected to VR and a 4K screen. I updated the driver, disconnected the VR (don't need it while I'm still learning the game anyway) and reduced the resolution in game to 2k. Each was done individually as separate steps. It is also worth adding that no other game experiences this crash. I'm currently playing Elite Dangerous and Portal 2 and both games work flawlessly.
