Hi all

I have some co-ops missions from a year ago. Some are just MSNBin without the mission files and we used to be able to open them by copy and pasting the full name and extension in to the open file/editor but this isn't working.

Is there any way to open these files or fix them?

Your problem may be due to the fact that the "Check Entities" option was changed to "Check Planes" in the complex trigger translator. If you had the .mission file, you could make that change in a text editor like NotePad++ and then the mission would open. I'm not sure that there is a way to make the change to the .msnbin file.

I have some of them, so I should open the mission files in notepad and make the changes ?

Yes, but use NotePad++ (free download) or some other advanced text editor to avoid possible text format issues.

Change CheckEntities to CheckPlanes. NotePad++ allows you to make the changes to all files in a folder.

I had some old missions that wouldn't open even after making the stated changes. Something else broke but we never figured out what it was.

Seems like I didn't have any Check Entities triggers, have any others been changed?

If you get a chance could you take a look?

Do the following in the editor:

1. In the Tools menu, choose "Resave All Missions in Folder".

2. Navigate to the folder where your mission is located.

3. Click OK.

The resave process will take a minute or so.

4. Open your mission.

When the game went from DX9 to DX11 the old msnbin files stopped working and the only way to get them back up is if you have a corresponding .mission file to edit and re-save with.

If you have just the .mission file then you can edit with Notepad++ to replace CheckEntities with CheckPlanes then resave the mission in the Editor.

If you have both files you need to move or delete the .msnbin file then carry out the steps above

If you have only the .msnbin file you're out of luck. Trying to resave these using the editor only throws up error messages

I have been working on getting an archive or our Squadron's campaign missions updated and ready and have not found any other way around the issue you are experiencing yet.. If anyone knows of one, let me know please

For the mission which don't have any mission files, and which are only in msnbin, there is noway to use it now. You can't use it anymore.

Always keep the mission files, or generate one if you donwload missions which don't have one.
