1CGS's attention to detail

I'm glad that they took the time to animate these types of things appropriately.

Check out cycling the action on the mg131, with the ratcheting system to assist-

And how the rounds in the hopper magazine on the 3.7cm bk descend as one fires -

Great work guys!

As someone who has been pulled away from playing this game, thank you for these videos. Really cool details!

Yep I love this stuff. Always loved seeing the oil and rad coolers open and close too, and the exhaust flames.

Question if you play as the rear gunner online in multiplayer does the pilot have control of reloading the gun or does the gunner?

pilot has control; and surprisingly while one can fly the plane as the gunner, one cannot prompt the reload unless sitting in the pilot seat, which is why I switch to pilot seat briefly.

This sort of attention to detail more than overcomes the need to click anything actually, which would only be realistic if I had a true cockpit mockup at home.... In the end I know the systems and operations, whatever they involve, are still being correctly modeled.

It's great to see and taste this and many other details of how 1C / 777 put's this sim in the TOP !

Yeah this is nice, however there's still no seperate gear up and gear down button.

And also no working compass wheel in german planes.

I'd rather have those things "fixed" than animations like this.

But alas.

Thanks for sharing.

You can always map two different buttons for the wheels...and just remember to press the right one at the right time  :)

Lets hope with the new IL2 we can operate the pilots sliding canopy without the gunners one coming open too...

another little thing I love is on some of the newer planes the in cockpit lighting "flicker" before it turns on, just adds a cool 1940s vibe

Nope...? That's the problem, there's only a gear up/down button to set up.

So you can only have one button for both...

i think what he means is that you can map two buttons to the same command and both will do Up/Down. i believe that is what he means you need to remember when to use which

Makes sense

I know this will never happen, and I'm not sure id want it, but click pits would be awesome, even if it was selective, like on for expert, and off for normal.

My favorite is the cooling fan on the FW190 spinning at a geared speed to the prop, most noticeable when turning the engine off.

The sound of dogs barking in villages.

Yeah, I don't think it will..its been gone over on many threads. Honestly in DCS VR I map all my needed buttons to the HOTAS and don't click all that much. A few here and there. The F key radio being most used. Clickable for that in VR is great..no lifting the googles!

I do get a kick out of the detail in here, like the dogs barking and all. Sometimes I'll just spawn (SP) and just sit at an airfield and see if I can pick up on little Easter eggs. Move to a different field and try it again. And my wife say I'm just wasting time with a video game, Pfft! :)

I just want to point out that 777 is the development team/studio.

1CGS is the publishing body.

I fly on expert and am not of the opinion that a magic floating cursor in the air between me and the controls that I have to move with a mouse no less is more 'realistic' or 'expert'

To each his own but I don't lament the absence of click pits.

A click pit just sounds clumsy.  Moving a mouse, hovering over the right spot, and clicking, while flying - or worse fighting - just doesn't seem natural.  IRL the pilot would have to reach out and press a button, turn a knob, etc., but that seems more natural than dealing with a mouse.  Just MHO and not meant as a definitive right or wrong.

It is clumsy for me, you know how many times I crashed trying to click that one #%$*'n switch!

On the ground or during taxi, ok but in the air, in a fight its hard. That's why I put my most used on the HOTAS,(like any other game) no fumbling around clicking when it counts.

Exactly, and IRL it's muscle memory, like reaching for your car radio knob...you don't have to look, and it's quick.

Moving a cursor and clicking in the pit IMO is further away from real life (from a muscle memory, efficiency standpoint)  than hitting a key on the keyboard or HOTAS
