71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Note: Only new accounts that have been created by time this email was sent out and users who own BOS, but not BOM qualify for the code. Accounts that already own BOM or accounts created after this email was sent will not receive a code. well I guess I should stop paying out $80.00 dollars.. Thanks guys not very fair pricing! Haza Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Please write to support so they are aware of you issue. I'm sorry I don't have a answer for you at this moment. It seems like you should have a code, but cant say for sure maybe something is amiss. Sorry for any inconvenience. Jason It's not usable as for gifts because we made this a very targeted promo to a specific group of users or potential users. It's a marketing/sales approach specifically targeting those who haven't already purchased BOM (for whatever reason). As a way to get additional revenue and target those who have 'held out' or avoided the purchase up to now it is completely sensible and justifiable. Your $80 purchase got you access to the game a year earlier and right from the very start. Maybe that's how you should look at it.

Kendo, I think Mastiff's issue is that he has bought BOM as a gift but because he already owns both BOS and BOM he doesn't qualify for the discount. Therefore, although it is a good marketing idea to get players with BOS to buy BOM, buying BOM as a gift for somebody who already has BOS and not getting this discount, perhaps is seen as being unfair. I understand why it is a good sales pitch by the company to get BOS owners to buy BOM, but I do understand Mastiff's issue, if I have correctly understood what I believe his issue is! Surely if you are buying BOM as gift for a BOS owner, why shouldn't you get a discount as well? I guess the other option that the company could allow is that you could purchase say an electronic version of a "Gift Card" with IL2 Credits to give that to another player and then that player could then use that credit with their discount code as well if they wanted to!? However, perhaps the administration cost of that would be high or just to difficult to manage with a small team. In deed, the IL2 team could perhaps give everybody IL2 Gift Credits in imaginary Russian Rubels or German Marks to use against upgrades etc to encourage players to part with their cash, although any gift credits given by the company could not be transferred to another party. That way perhaps we would all feel like we were getting something!? I think that the latest La5 (hope correct aircraft) engine upgrade was really nice, however, I would have gladly paid say $5 US for this and perhaps this extra revenue would have helped, although I think getting something for nothing from this team speaks volumes for them. I would certainly buy credit up front to use towards BOP as well, without it appearing to be crowd funding. Anyway, just a thought. Perhaps Jason might be able to answer!? Jason?? kendo Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Didn't read the title properly. Apologies. Been a busy week....
Jason_Williams Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Let me be clear. I hate posts like this. If you have a problem with our sales write to me instead of insinuating we are not fair minded in public. And when it comes from a long time tester I take special exception. So again to be clear, we are not offering the promo code for gifts because it is abused by scammers. As I and others have stated - this is a campaign by us to give new users and BOS users the chance to buy BOM at a discount outside of normal timely discount sale periods and because we've changed many things since it's initial release and some held off making a purchase back in the day. This is definitely not any attempt to have unfair for those that purchase as a gift. Gifts have caused many headaches or us over the years along with helping. We have the right to be creative and try new things with our specials. Jason 5
