though mine recently developed a fault - after 2000hrs of use and whacking the brake taxi-ing, a pedal angle adjustment screw came slightly loose. I know. Took me all minute to sort it.

Well, I have them.

First impressions, the box is half the size I thought it would be, which made me confused, but on unpacking and assemblage, they're huge.

http://imgur.com/a/G34as

(SMALL cat and Zippo for size comparison)

Ginormous.

Also, forget anything you have heard about HPL or wood composite. It *may* well be hpl, but where I am and the temps im at if feels more of a metal/plastic composite. Perhaps an aluminium of some sort.

Easy to put together too.

BUT!!!!

My right toe brake refused to function!!!111!

easy fix, the cable wasn't fully seated. My fault.

Installation is a breeze as is setting it up in BoX.

Now, I had read that folk said that they needed time to adjust to the pedal, "what nonsense" I thought, It'll be just like using a sexier set of pedals compared to my G25s. Not true. I *will* need some practice, especially on taxiing but i noticed a definite improvement in aiming in the air and general control of my aircraft.

I think they're a good investment.

No ragrets so far....

These were my first pedals and it took some time to get used to them but now i couldnt fly without them. Theyre perfect in almost every aspect (the heel thing could be taller IMO). You should try different CAMs if the centering doesnt please you, im happy with CAM4. Anyway, enjoy your new set of maybe the greatest pedals out there!  :salute:

I suggested the need for a new FFB joystick.

This would be even better!

Ordered my Crosswind a few months ago; received notification last week that the batch containing my item was being finished off (they had to switch supplier for their springs); invoice arrived yesterday; pedals should ship in a week. Damn, but I'm looking forward to flying with these. I have a set of Thrustmaster T.Flight pedals as a temporary stand-in but they're not really up to snuff - pedals too close together and painful amounts of stiction in their action.

And if Milan ever does look at FFB joysticks then I for one would be happy to throw my knickers money at him. I'm just rediscovering my love for Microsoft's Sidewinder 2 FFB unit but they're getting long in the tooth and I'd love to see what a craftsman could do with today's technology.

You are in for a treat!

I have been flying with mine quite often since Dec 2015 and absolutely love them, the smoothness and precision is incredible.

My right pedal is incredibly squeaky, i wonder if thats the reason for the change in supplier?

I am surprised to hear that, you should definitely contact Milan about that.

Brake springs have been modified for improved feel and, yes, less squeaking.  :)

From an e-mail update a couple of weeks ago:

We recently changed our spring supplier due to some troubles with the old one. We used that opportunity to make a revision of the spring designs for our product. Pedals that will be delivered to you already include new modified springs. While we don't have pictures to show just yet...we can tell you what's changed :

- Brake axis springs are made of thicker wire and slightly modified ( torsion diameter, hooking point, zinc plating in matt color) ...result is better looking spring that provide approx 10% stronger feedback on brakes with less friction and less squeek sounds.

- Main rudder centering spring is also zinc plated in matt finish to reflect the overall design of the pedals.

good to know. My left pedal is as smooth as butter but the right one is a creaky squeaky nightmare (compared)

PS you'll love em!

I've had zero issues with squeaking so far. My experience has been excellent with the MFG crosswind (black). Highly recommend them.

Same - Zero issues and nothing but praise!

I believe mine was in the same batch as yours.

I like to think of mine as a limited "Squeaker Edition"

Strange. My pedal set also has the right brake being extremely squeaky. Works flawless, but squeaky as hell.

Anyone else other than Bando and I got a squeaker?

Any idea how to quieten our mouse powered pedals?

I would definitley make contact with Milan guys, based on my experience and with what all I have read about these pedals over the last few years, that is very much not normal.

My pedals are one of the first sold (Serial No. 003) I've had squeaky spring on the Brakes too, I applied silicon grease to the spring once some years ago. Never had any squeaky sound since. Might add that those old springs are not zinc covered, just plain steel or whatever. That was the only thing I ever had to fix myself, except for a cable for the brake axis once. At that time there was no loop on the cable like on newer pedals (from second batch onward). Turned out that adding the loop was the solution to the broken brake cables. Never had any trouble with those pedals, besides those 2 things mentioned. And thats after almost 4 years of more or less daily heavy use and abuse.

Only wish the Combat style pedals would finaly be ready, those where promised shortly after I have bought my pedals...

silicon grease eh?

i dont really want to bother Milan about such a trivial issue so I might try that.

Any recommendations on anything *not* to use just in case its not compatible with the pedals materials?

Looks like my set has finally cleared the Zagreb flight-test centre and is now crossing Germany. Not (too) long now.  :)

ordered a pair and sent him an email about the delay because of spring mfg, and he said that's sorted now and he's working on the July orders and mine will be in that batch................ can't wait to try them.............. except COMNAVHOUSEPAC is retired now and on the look out for packages with my name on them.............. so she will be eyeballing me when they come in...............  but the tuning out comes easy after 30 years of being together...  but my Avatar explains the precarious game I play...................

Cheers

Pedals are here. Time to break out the toolbox.

Well, there's a neat touch - the USB cable is a separate standard A-to-B cable instead of being wired permanently to the pedals (they have a female USB-B socket). No more will chewed cables need a soldering iron and electrician's tape to fix.

Damnit, even the styrofoam packaging is a bloody jigsaw puzzle.

One word: sweet!

Took about ten minutes to assemble (no. 5 cam, soft spring), adjust, and calibrate. Fire up BoS and... bugger me! I have accurate rudder control! The pedals are nicely separated, the action is smooth and precise, brakes feel great - so much so that I'm flying with rudder sensitivity set to 0% (linear response) and enjoying every minute of it.

'scuse the rats' nest, but here they are in their new home:

Now I just need to let my children know they've been sold to pay for my pedals. Seems a fair trade to me. ;)

OK - time to don my big boy's trousers and adjust the brake spring tension.

There may be swearing involved.

I ordered mine on June 23 and I should be able to pay on 17th.  But one of interesting notes in the email I received on the 13th is what Crosswinds is now offering "New soft centering spring addon is available for purchase"  You might want to check it out.  I add the new "springs" to my order.  75 year old legs get tired really fast.

I feel your pain - I commute by bicycle every day and my wrong-end-of-my-forties legs feel every mile.

Oh yes, I've fitted the softer centring spring. FWIW I've also adjusted the brake springs to their lowest-tension setting - turns out (once one actually watches the set-up tutorials) to be a straight-forward job after all.

I think you're going to love your pedals.
