DakkaDakkaDakka Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 My T-16000M has given me nearly three years of dependable service, and the X/Y axes are still very good. However, the throttle slider is now exhibiting some spiking, making one end of movement jump around. I use this for radiator, so it's not ideal. Anyone dealt with this before, or have some suggestions on how to improve?
Thad Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Salutations, Is it possible to set a 'deadzone' for the affected movement area?
Sokol1 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) This is expected - soon or latter, the rudder and throttle axes use ordinary low cost potentiometer (X,Y use contactless HALL sensor) that has limited useful life. I have a T.1600M and their throttle went bad with ~1 year. Unfortunately "joystick potentiometer" with their special 30/60º resistive trail electrical angle is not available in online stores, or if are is very hard to find, for replace. DakkaDakkaDakka Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Thank you both for your suggestions. I will try recalibrating and setting up a deadzone, barring that I guess I'll have to live with it till it gets worse. And then who knows! S!
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Why do new sticks do this crud (4 times the price 1/10th the lifetime)Had Saitek ST290 pro (all old school potentiometers and all plastics)15 years abuse over 5,000 play hoursOnly problem is the missing button cap (dog ate it) but button still works
DakkaDakkaDakka Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 (edited) So, I tried recalibrating the joystick in Windows, and the spikiness seems to have gone away. Who knows? In any event, thank you all for your posts, they're most appreciated. Edited March 3, 2017 by surfimp
=VARP=Cygann Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I must say I still enjoy FFb2 for ROF and BOS, and CH Products for everything else. These have yet to let me down in any situation on any Win version. I can't even remember purchase year, let alone date, and feel like I got em yesterday. I know new products advanced gimbals, sensor resolutions and what not, but honestly, for the prices they all charge, I am quite disappointed with all the issues players are reporting all over the internet, and even more so for the reports how warranties are handled. Considering the targeted market and number of users, you'd think they would care more for each customer. Still waiting for a product with a proper quality control that can truly be trusted. VKB have a good chance to prove they are the next CH in quality, but we shall see...

My Crosswinds were delivered in September 2014 and are the nicest peripheral I own. Would love it if I could get that kind of quality in a joystick. In the meantime, thanks to the recalibration I did last night, my throttle slider spikes are gone, and my T-16000M is back to the quiet & reliable (if not fancy) perfection it's always had. Ops, remember a accessible and cheap source for cheap joystick potentiometer: Replacement thumb stick for gamepads PS3 like, is he same potentiomter. Need some DIY for use. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ED063581-B-Analog-Stick-Joystick-Thumbstick-Potentiometer-Sony-Playstation-PS3-/111829216517?var=&hash=item1a098a6d05:m:m8UOxoM7I1_HfcGa6d4Seiw Attention: is need the 3 pin model - the 4 pins use HALL sensor, better but is not compatible with common joystick circuit, need a signal amplifier in between. Yes, the T-16000m is a great joystick for the price.

Yes, I've heard only the best about Milan and his work. Since I am living quite close to him, just might go for a moto ride one sunny day and pick up one of those (need to check first he has some ready so I don't just go for the beer ). I have no issues with my current rudder at all, quite simplistic, reliable and just work. And they can really be programmed and scripted to change function between planes (like most current VVS) that brake equal on any pedal press, and those that operate left and right brake separate, wich I really like. But higher grade product such as this is worth looking into even if it can't support feature I just mentioned. Txh for reminding me...
