I found that one in the german section of this forum and thought that in the english section it will get more attention, i find it interesting and would like to now what you guys think.

Sry if this article is already known.

https://www.warhistoryonline.com/world-war-ii/20-amazing-now-images-wwii-adam-surrey-x.html

The kind of emotional impression of the DB605 is so nice to read, take a look: "Listen to a Merlin engine and hear a beautiful symphonic sound. Listen to the Daimler Benz engine. The recipe for recreating this sound is to start with a Merlin. Put in a racing camshaft, jack up the compression, and then garnish with the shriek of 1000 tortured souls that is the DB605 supercharger. It is simply the most pure and sinister sound in the universe. Being attacked by something with this sound would make me curl up in the fetal position on the floor and cry like a little baby."

There is more in that article, have fun to read and thx to Hucky for bringing it up in the german section. ;)

I've read that article earlier today (was posted on Facebook I think)

It's a nice read but for all the flowery language, there really isn't much new stuff to learn from it. It's conclusion is basically:

1. It's a tiny aircraft with a hugely powerful engine and a high wingloading, making it a handful to master (That pretty much goes for the majority of all WW2 fighters to some degree)

2. It's really well designed and well manufactured.

3. Its combination of small size, engine power and landing gear configuration makes it a PITA to handle on the ground and during take off.

So really nothing we didn't already know.

If there is one thing I'd like to transfer to the sim, it's the way having more weight on one landing gear will initiate a ground loop. That problem could be more pronounced in our sim.

Otherwise it's a good, fun read.
