I/JG 54 looking for 190/109 and JU-87 pilots on the US west coast!

Gentlemen!

I/JG 54 has very recently formed up and is looking for a few pilots to flesh out our ranks.

We fly US west coast, PST times. Current mission days are Wednesday and Sunday at 1900

We are an association of online friends who enjoy playing the Il2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad series of flight simulators, flying primarily the Luftwaffe's two great fighters of the second world war the Messerschmidt Bf-109 and Focke-Wulf Fw-190. We also enjoy flying bombers and ground support aircraft such as the Ju-87 and Hs-129. We even sometimes dabble in allied aircraft including the Curtiss P-40, Bell P-39, and the legendary Supermarine Spitfire.

Though we primarily focus on the Il2 BoS series many of our pilots also enjoy Team Fusion's Cliffs of Dover and the DCS series of simulators.

Here at JG 54 you wont find an emphasis on symbols of rank or kills, military type discipline or rigid chain of command.

We take pride in not taking this all too seriously. We enjoy this game for what it is-a game. Whats more important is having a like minded group of virtual pilots who enjoy each others company. Think of us as the Eastern Front Luftwaffe Black Sheep squadron!

It takes a very particular type of pilot to fit into I./JG 54. Prospective pilots should be able to banter back and fourth, give and take a joke respectfully, and not get hung up on kill boards, virtual rank or game points, but at the same time be a consummate team player and merciless killer behind the gun site of his virtual fighter. Teamwork is a big part of what we do here, as even the best pilot is extremely vulnerable by himself. We fly in together, destroy all enemy opposition without quarter, and come home together.

So if you're a team player with a sense of humor and want to wing up with a group of laid back virtual pilots you've come to the right place! We look forward to meeting you.

Horrido!

I/JG 54 Uwe.

Edit: We are now also seeking JU-87 pilots for precision bombing/anti tank roles. We have a few good Stuka pilots already but would like to add more punch to our ground attack element.

Our numbers grow slowly but surely!

I'm so happy to see my fellow pilots from old JG 53 coming back to it! We had a great group and the more that can be brought together the better.

Had great flights with Reagan and Val this afternoon and look forward to more flying with the group this evening.

Anyone who would like to join us on teamspeak to check us out feel free to PM Lang or myself and we will get you squared away.

It's with much happiness that I welcome Beazil back into the company of his comrades of the old JG 53! Happy to have you in JG 54!

With his admission, and for the time being we are looking for just two more 109/190 pilots to round out our numbers.

Hi guys!

You might be exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm a 109 pilot in Utah and I'm looking to get back into multiplayer combat flight after a decade-plus hiatus.  I might be a little rusty on my A2A maneuvers, having focused mostly on ground attack for most of my sim "career", but I've taken a liking to fighters more and more lately, and I'd rather go in that direction.

So, with all that in mind, considering the proximity in time zones, this might be the best place for me to start.  However, I do have a question, and it's an important one for me:  I work on flight simulators for a living - it's very much my bread & butter - and I wasn't too sure about the wording on the website regarding using things for "historical accuracy".  If it's just ranks & awards, awesome!  However, if it includes historically accurate symbols on the paint schemes of the aircraft, I must forego candidacy, as I cannot have my name anywhere near images of swastikas, nor would I feel particularly comfortable flying with one anywhere on my aircraft.

If you could provide some clarification, it would help me in my decision to apply.  I sincerely apologize if this comes off the wrong way; I do not mean to sound as I'm judging your unit if you do, as that is not my intent, it's just a strong personal preference in the opposite direction of historical accuracy for the sake of my own ethics and profession.  Thanks for your time!

PM sent.

The text of my PM, as it may interest others:

Hey no need to apologize, we've all got our own personal ethics and positions upon which we can and will not compromise. If you decide to fly with us you'll find I have several of my own as do our other members. I dislike flying Russian and Japanese aircraft for many of the same reasons people object to flying with the swastika.

It's not a big deal to me, and I think I can safely say it's more important to us to have a pilot that's fits in well with our group than it is to enforce that type of uniformity. If you're fine with the type of markings found on the stock skins than I'm fine with you using them.

Why don't we chat in TS? I'll get the info to you this evening for our Wednesday meeting after I get home from work.

S!

Just put in an application. Just recently got back into IL2 (haven't played since the original), been having a ton of fun since building a new cockpit (Can't wait for my 109 replica joystick to arrive!). Flew 109s for years in WWIIOnline with JG52, and later the 190. Been flying the Yak since getting back into the new IL2, but will be switching over to the 109 this week.

Not a fan of flying solo, so looking for some fun (mature) people to sim with.

Cheers

Indeed it is!

Had a flight with our newest recruit Foxeye. Good flying with him and doing some basic familiarization.

Glad to have you aboard!

This just in-we are opening our doors to dedicated JU-87 pilots.

We want to be able to do more than just Frei Jagd every sortie. We have a couple of pilots who love flying the 87 but not enough to really do a lot of damage. We want to expand their ranks, and thus give us fighter pilots our primary mission of bomber escort and help to advance our ground forces via precision ground attack.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in drop us a line!

Excellent to see the unit in action on the Eastern Front. I have a soft spot for the Grünherzjager for about a year and a half in IL-2:1946. In fact I uploaded the entire III./JG54 skin pack for the BoB era planes. Maybe I will do the same for you.

We're very much enjoying it! Thanks!

I always sought out the 53rd, but I'm enjoying the 54th immensely.

I looked but didn't find your BoB pack, mind shooting me the link?

It's great flying combined arms together, much fun even if the reds can't get it together lol.

There are a lot of things that set a squad up for success.

Having great pilots is just a part of it. We've got a great group of guys that make our mission nights an absolute blast!

To really mature though you need a couple guys that have an expanded skill set.

Lang brings an IT skill set that has been absolutely vital to getting off the ground. Setting up our forums, group chat, and TS.

Schneemann and I can skin just about anything we need to skin to add a personal touch to our missions.

But we've been lacking a vital piece in the mission design side.

Until now!

Highwayman is hard at work transitioning from the DCS mission editor to BoS with great results!

His first single player test mission was just the right mix of utter boredom and stark terror and surprise that reflects the true nature of combat.

He has built on that and now has a MP mission for our group to test.

All in less than a week.

From this base we aim to build a group co-op campaign, and upon that ultimately an online war server.

Big plans, that with time, determination and skill will pay bigger dividends!

Salute to all of our pilots, and the skill and enthusiasm they bring to our group!

Couldn't do it without you guys!
