Tuesday Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Just bought the Ryzen 5 1600, should be here as early as Monday (or maybe even tomorrow if sent by courier and not our national postal service). Looking forward to the upgrade, especially when compared to my current AMD A10-5800k.
robertgalp Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 AMD was coming from a gap that was absolutely massive: If you expected them to beat Intel in their own game of single core performance than no wonder you are getting disappointed. Unrealistic or overly optimistic expectations always lead to disappointments. What AMD does is an introduction of 4c/8t, 6c/12t and 8c/12t CPUs to mainstream at reasonable prices and with good performance. This is a good starting point, particularly because their next step and most profitable one will be server stations. And mainstream users gain something denied to them for years now. The Core i7-7700K is Intel’s flagship Kaby Lake based CPU which is reported to have the same IPC as its predecessor, Skylake. Comparing the 7700K and 6700K shows that both average effective speed and peak overclocked speed are up by 7%. Most of the increase in average effective speed is explained by the 5% boost in base clocks from 4.0 to 4.2 GHz. The improved peak lab speed is attributable to a combination of better overclocking capacity and improvements in Intel’s speedshift technology which make the 7700K slightly more responsive.
