It should appear in your game (it will still show BoS in steam). In the start Hangar check for a red bar on the right side that says Battle of Moscow. It should be next to one that says Battle of Stalingrad.

Hi,

Sorry for any misunderstanding, but That is not what the email says. It says the BOM content will be in the game itself, but as mentioned BOM will not appear in your Steam library.

Jason Thanks for the reply - but this is ridiculous why do you need to apply the discount in your IL2 store then somehow have it activate in steam?assume if you buy it directly in steam it would appear in your library?

Also by way of update:

1)when I try to play BoM through BoS in steam firstly my steam VR/oculus app try to open themselves (as if its a Steam VR game) then everything freezes and locks up before the game starts properly - the only way back is to reset the computer!!! whats causing this and how can I resolve it?(note also I assume somehow the BoM game will also need to download - do not see any pending downloads for BoS or BoM on my steam?

2)Separate question - When will both games support VR?

Update:now have started getting into the hanger (but its split into 2 screens on my monitor - like its trying to display VR - but the game just hangs does not go past the log in screen - only wait out is to reset the PC!!!

Hmm, very weird. Normally nothing should have changed as you just unlocked content that was already there. Is there anything you changed to the game? Have you tried verifiying files through steam? You might need to reassign your controls though then..

Anyway: Best to contact support.

Tried to buy the premium edition today and something screwed up about address credentials so now the promo code is considered used

I hate operating out of STEAM exactly for this reason I think STEAM and World of Tanks are the only companies

I never have any trouble with.

Disappear from here for another 3 months.

Steam might cost companies money but their impeccable service has that price.

Sounds like user error. BoM content is already in BoS, as is what BoK content has been created. They are not separate, they are one in the same but you are just expanding content access of what you already have.

Buying it in the store should be all you have to do. You wont have it appear as purchased in the steam app nor do you have to do any activating in steam. It is entirely linked to your account on this website and nothing more.

I don't know what is causing your issue with VR. Sounds like you maybe tried to use it with BOS earlier and it still thinks you want that. I don't now for sure. We will have official VR support next month if everything goes to plan. Perhaps re-install the game. We are not getting any other such reports so there is something off on your system it seems.

About Steam and our Promo Codes. See below. It might help you understand our system more and why this particular discount code operates the way it does.

1.       Steam only allows sales a few times a year. We like to run special sales more often so we developed our new promo code system to give us more freedom on when we can offer discounts.

2.       We use the Steam service as a re-seller, we don’t use Steam as a user account manager or DRM like other developers and publishers do. We have our own highly developed customer account system separate from Steam. When you originally bought BOS on Steam you were required to create a user account with our system in order to play. This is important because it gives you the ability to not only buy content on Steam, but also in our store.

3.       Communicating with Steam is a one-way street. They can talk to us, but we can’t tell Steam when you buy something on our website or allow Steam to accept promo codes from our website.

4.       Because you have a Sturmovik user account with our system already, you can also buy products like BOM on our site. You can use BOM content when you launch BOS from Steam because you also log into our system each time you play. This gives you the ability to play BOM content in the game, but it doesn’t place BOM in your Steam Library.

5.       IL-2 Sturmovik uses only one client to run the game. Although we sell content as separate products, you always use the same shared client to play. This gives you the ability to use content purchased both on Steam or on our website. It’s quite a flexible system. However, content purchased on our site won’t show up in your Steam Library. You may not like that, but due to restrictions of Steam we can’t tell your Steam account about purchases on our website.

If you absolutely want to purchase BOM or other content on Steam with the same discount and see it in your library, you’ll need to wait until we run a comparable sale on Steam. We run sales on Steam several times a year, usually around holidays. If you’d rather not wait for a holiday sale, you can buy on our website today and skip the wait. It’s up to you. The only minor drawback is it won’t be in your library.

Thanks for the reply making a lot more sense now - so in reality I can play everything via my steam even though I purchased it in your store - does that include if I bought early access for your new Bokuban I think its called?

2 final questions

1)Do you have a date when the VR support goes live next month (presume its for all x3 of Il2 titles?)

2)Going back to my earlier issue with BoS trying to load in VR - cant remember last time I played it but is it possible you might have some kind of early VR support for the title - as this is the only way I could have somehow tried to play it in VR before? - assuming now VR will not work it until next month so it needs to be disabled? - so what is my solution to get it running again on my monitor (reinstall on steam or verifying integrity of cache?)

@Jordan

thanks for the reply - absolutely nothing has changed - hadn't played the game in games (was really waiting for the VR support to come) - but as mentioned above its possible may have had a go at trying to play it in VR last year (cant remember) - its the only reason I can think that's its trying to boot up in VR mode then crash - but its really hard issue to resolve as I cant get into the game to change the options!!

Try a reinstall / rightclick the game in Library -> Properties -> Local files -> Verify integrity of game files.

And yes, you can also purchase Battle of Kuban like this and play it through your Steam BoS.

Jason,

i'm not sure if you will get this, therefore somebody might be able to help me.  Although I currently have BOM, are we able to access the promo codes if we already have BOM or any other games that in future might offer discounts so that players might be able to gift the game to somebody, or is the offer only available to those who do not own the game? I looked at the promo link and there wasn't a code and assumed it was because I already had BOM.

I apologise if somebody has already asked the question and will be happy to be linked to that reply.

Regards

In the startup.cfg file in [game directory]/Data folder theres all your settings maybe there's a check box for VR, I can't remember.

Or you may have to reinstall your game.

Or you could download the game off the website and go through the launcher.

Hi Jason_williams,

I recently purchased a copy of BoS from the official website and installed it successfully. I received the email about the 40% discount promotion code on the BoM. I logged into my account and went to the Promo codes tab and it said: "you don't have promo codes yet". I have logged out and back into my account and looked for the promo code but it doesn't show up for me.

Please write to support so they are aware of you issue. I'm sorry I don't have a answer for you at this moment. It seems like you should have a code, but cant say for sure maybe something is amiss. Sorry for any inconvenience.

It's not usable as for gifts because we made this a very targeted promo to a specific group of users or potential users.

Hey Jason - maybe I missed something or just don't understand how this promo code thing works, but hopefully this is a simple question that can be answered quickly without wasting too much time.

I've already purchased/pre-ordered everything BoS/BoM/BoK-related that I'm aware of.  In that case, is there anything I would be able to do with this promo code or is it only useful for people who still have something they could buy?

Hi Jason !

Just to say thank you for those nice sells ! I've fallen in love with I-16 since yesterday !

And so much lovely work from you and the whole team ! You'll always have your fans.  ;)

All I can say is thank you for this nice gesture!

For me, it's not just about the money either, It just feels good when someone care for faithful customers regardless of the actual discount value.

I missed BOM entirely due to prolonged leave from simming (ah that RL, gets in the way of serious things :)). Was about to buy BOM premium anyways within next couple of weeks, but this offer was good enough so I did not have to wait a day longer and can jump right into Rata-ta-ta-taaa.

Cheers!

Cool - I thought that was probably the case but just wanted to check.

Hope it works and brings in some new folks for BoM.  Looking forward to the next round of updates/improvements from this amazing dev team!

Hello, I just signed up recently cause a friend has been asking me to get this. Watched a bunch of videos and want to get it. He told me about the 40% off code so I signed up. Is the offer up for anyone new or do you have to own BOS before you get the promo code?

thanks

just had a look in .cfg file and seems no reference to VR (not surprising since its not supported yet...) which makes it even weirder its trying to load up in VR mode!

will try to verify cache next....

You don't have to own BoS I guess. :) Its not written otherwise. Just check if it shows the code and then apply it.

Strange verified the cache - still same problem and have just tried and reinstall and now getting an immediate crash of the game and also the oculus app and steam vr

try to load up even after the game has crashed........

I really don't know. My guess would also be that there is something wrong with your startup.cfg in your il2/data folder.

You could try to open it and post the contents here in a spoiler (or add the file as an attachment)

Just used the Promo code for myself and purchased the Premium addition.   Is there any rule that prohibits me from giving the Standard versions promo code to a friend?

You could try to delete it and then verify game files. if you want to be sure though: Delete Il-2 completely and then any remaining files. After that reinstall.

I have been looking on the site and googling this and I can't find a clear answer.

I have bought the BOM premium edition on the IL-2 Sturmovik.com  store

.How do I transfer it to my STEAM account?

Do I just take the activated key in my IL-2 Sturmovik.com profile and use that in STEAM?

Or maybe ask IL-2 Sturmovik.com support they can get it from STEAM?

I had bought BOS early access from the IL-2 store and transferred it to

STEAM I thought I could do the same with BOM that was bought

from their store and transfer it to STEAM too.

You can transfer only your BOS key to your STEAM account (because you bought BOS early access)

You'll be able to play both games via Steam but you will not see BOM in the DLC list.

You can transfer only those keys that were purchased on our site during the pre-order or early access.

Also you'll have the option to receive Steam keys for Yak-1b and Ju 52 after its release on Steam if you buy them on our site now.

Thanks for the answer Jason I have the Yak 1b it was a pre-order gift I received in September of last year thanks to HerrMurf.

So I should be able to get a steam key for the Yak-1b?

Yes, after its release on Steam if you want to see Yak-1b in your DLC list
