JG4_Sputnik Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 As a former doorgunner on a UH-60, and trained on a UH-1, using the M60D, I can tell you there are no jagged lines from tracers when seen with the naked eye. (The UH-1 has a bit of shake - the Blackhawk less so.) Jaggies are a result of the frame rate of those old BW cameras. Tracers are more like those described earlier as balls and streaks from ricochets. Because the guns are fired laterally from a helo there was a little streaking when firing down and behind from altitude. While ground firing an M60 and when the gun is fired forward, so you are essentially directly behind the weapon, the streaking only occurs when there is the ricochet. I would love to see the jagged tracers, however, if some sort of gun camera footage is available later in the build. Thanks for the info. Yes a "gun cam" mode would be great and never has been done in a sim as far as i know. Cheers
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I like wiggy tracers, there i said it.... Anyway.... Pro's From what ive seen so far, im impressed by most things, the graphics to me have improved, shaper and cleaner and the reflections seem better. Is it me or do we have more dirty snow around airfields and villages now? they seem more life like to me, a more lived in look. Cars and lorries don't make huge snow clouds as they move, much better. Gun sounds to me are great, very metal and heavy, just like ive read about, i love them. Gun flashes are very nice, maybe slightly over done to my eyes, but still look great. Hit affects and smoke are very well done, the smoke looks oily and has a nice fluid movement feel to it, same with shell smoke, a big plus is i don't notice any performance hit from these particle affects. Ground strikes and ricochets, again very nicely done, they look almost the same as in the pro-mo video. Visual damage looks great, love it. Cons Tracers, hmmm...i really don't know, i don't have enough real experience of tracers to say for certain but to me they do look too big and clunky, not enough zip to them, but again they may be spot on, but so far im not a big fan. Shooting down aircraft seems just a bit too easy, they seem to go down after 1 good hit 90% of the time, again this could be just subjective but that's how i feel. Cockpit Damage looks great but my sight is damaged almost every time im hit, and the same instruments are broken, could do with more variance. Im getting no sounds when my aircraft is hit, though this could be just they are not added in yet. All in all a very nice update, things are going very much in the right direction for me, but with lots to tweak and add, just like i would expect from this stage of development. Big thumbs up for me!
Marcomies Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Are you people shooting from very zoomed in view? I mainly play zoomed out to max and tracers really don't look too big that way.
HagarTheHorrible Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Simple solution, tracers stay the same but when you record it and play it back on YouTube it gets changed to look like gun cam footage etc. Simple really, please everybody.
BigPickle Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Sounds are dissapointing i think, even the 109 doesnt sound great inside anymore. I made a post in the suggestion thread saying engine should overpower wind when cockpit is closed, looks like the opposite has been done. Also when it comes to the guns I'd like to hear realisim only! There should be ZERO echo or reverb becuase there is nothing for it to echo off, you could put slight reverb for nose guns on inside view but really I dont think you would hear any reverb at all, the weapon sounds should be muted listen to my cliffs of dover sound mod, the mg FF's are spot on trust me : (skip to 1:30) http://youtu.be/1yW-Zi6SSdo Edited December 7, 2013 by BigPickle
HagarTheHorrible Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The only echo and reverb that I heard was when I fired the guns sitting on the runway.
ACG_Kraut Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I personally LOVE the gun sounds, they are so much more beefy than I'm used to than the sounds in TF CLoD. The tracers need a bit of a size reduction, but are still pretty nice.
BigPickle Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The only echo and reverb that I heard was when I fired the guns sitting on the runway. you misunderstand, its on the sample, guns sound the same where ever you fire them.

Maybe if I play a bit more with outside view. But... for some reason, I find whole game environment to be somewhat blindingly white (as it probably should be), so tracers are the least of my probs...
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Thanks for the info. Yes a "gun cam" mode would be great and never has been done in a sim as far as i know. Cheers I said frame rate in the original post but more accurately should have said shutter speed.

I thought it was the latter but since I've never fired a gun, never mind a WW2 fighter, I don't really know.
