Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Just a question. But didn't the A-20 have a ventral machine gun? It might just be my imagination, but I think I can just barely make out the ventral hatch housing the gunner's position in the third shot, right behind the bomb bay. Without panel lines, this will be really hard to spot on the 3d model. 1
Jizzo Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The A20 looks awesome can't wait for the radial sound, great news!
Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Are the team moving ahead of schedule on 'plane release at the moment? Seems like it, but then again, they might just be a bit ahead on the Fw 190 and thought "why not lump it together with the He 111 and save ourselves the work of getting an April update ready?". Preparing and testing all these updates must be a lot of work in itself, and the more they can fit into one update the better, if it means they can skip the next one.

I can see the panel in front of the nosewheel, but nothing behind the bomb-bay. But you might be right. Thnx. M

But you might be right. Thnx. M The longer I look, the clearer I see it. There's a definite line visible on the side closest to the "camera" and you can see the line on the other side as a more abrupt change in shading as opposed to the more rounded rear fuselage further back. Blink and you'll miss it though.
Riderocket Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Another great Dev. diary Are the team moving ahead of schedule on 'plane release at the moment? December: Bf109G-4January: Bf110G-2 February: He111H-16 March: FW190A-5, plus A-3 Fix. May: IL-2 Model 1943 June: Spitfire Mk. Vb July: Kuban map (without career) October: Yak-7B + open beta on Kuban career November: A-20B + P-39L-1 + Hs129B-2 + new free historical campaign for Kuban December: Final release of Battle of Kuban This is the timeline from the devs, the A-3 Fix and the A-5 seem to be coming an entire month early. Which is always good news. I always find most games and developers say a lot of stuff and don't end up fulfilling their promise (no man's sky!) Where as the devs here, they promise 1 thing and give you 2 things Edited February 16, 2017 by Riderocket
LLv24_Zami Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Thanks for the news! Looking forward for 2.008, among new planes there will be interesting fixes for AI. Very glad to hear that career mode is advancing like planned, it is my most waited feature of the new plan
Tomsk Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Massive thumbs up on the progress on the VR support. Something that's really impressed me about the dev team is their speed of development. I work in software development - I know that's hard to achieve.
RAY-EU Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Ok Thanks . The Fw190 A5 + the VR HTC VIVE . Coming in March ...
Scojo Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) I'm so excited about the A-20B. As much as I fly the Pe-2 and IL-2, I can't imagine I can afford the A-20B timewise Massive thumbs up on the progress on the VR support. Something that's really impressed me about the dev team is their speed of development. I work in software development - I know that's hard to achieve. No kidding. They're ahead ahead of schedule. (On schedule is usually the practical form of ahead of schedule lol) I hate to have to say it though, but I really do hope the G-2 gun bug, and the weird engine start power issue gets resolved soon. I'm sure they just haven't found the culprit on the gun bug yet, but are working hard to find it Edited February 16, 2017 by 71st_AH_Scojo
216th_Peterla Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 A20 is awesome. Very good job guys. Regards

Although i think it won't be called a game breaker, it's pretty annoying. But i have confidence that they will fix it in the next update. Grt M

Grt M I know they are I wasn't bringing it up because I didn't think they knew about it, but rather to express that it's important to me. Also, just because it's easy to reproduce doesn't mean it's also easy to find the true cause or easy to devise the fix. Therefore, since they didn't mention it here, I'm sure that just means they're still working on either finding the cause or producing the fix. No matter when it comes out, I'm confident it's not a matter of lack of effort. These guys are definitely hard workers and I can't complain!

216th_Peterla Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) ^^ The only line I can see is one right after the nose, between the bomb bay. Not shown in your edited pic. Edited February 16, 2017 by 216th_Peterla
Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 No clue what you're talking about... I can see it pretty clearly in your cropped picture as well.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I can see it pretty clearly in your cropped picture as well. Sorry, man... I still don't see it. I see some shading differences directly aft of the bomb bay doors but this appears to be poor shading in the 3D design software or an unfinished hard angle based on the model's poly count.

Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 an unusable plane since you loose all your armament the first time you're hit anywhere is not a game breaker? I've flown the Bf 110G2 a bunch since it came out - more than I ever flew the Bf 110E - and it's far from unusable. Yes, the bug is an annoying showstopper, but to me it happens maybe once every five flights.

It happens to me in every flight that I take any degree of damage it seems (even a bump to the tail from flak will disable the guns...) but it doesn't diminish my enjoyment of just flying the G-2. Phantom-103 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 VR........IS COMING!!!!...........BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1
andyw248 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The A-20 - the first aircraft with a tricycle gear in this sim. I'm excited!
Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Every five flights or every five flights where you get hit by something attacking you? Every five flights total. Probably every third or so flight where I take damage. I just flew a quick with the BK 3,7. Took plenty of hits and got one engine knocked out, but the cannon was fine. I'm not saying the bug isn't there, it absolutely is, it's just not quite as bad as some ppl experience.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) I can help test Vive if needed. Super stoked on all the progress! Edited February 16, 2017 by [TWB]Hooves
Gambit21 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 That A-20 looks higher res than their other models to date. This might just be an illusion due to the material used in that render though. In any case it will be a sweet aircraft even if modeled at the normal standard.
Madov Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 It's great to see that VR support is well on its way into the sim. This has been a long time coming for well documented reasons but it's still good news. This will help me get out of the DCS cockpit sometimes and into the BO# one.
FlyingNutcase Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 A-20 + VR especially great news. I'll hold off until the next dev cycle of VR hardware though, hopefully later this year. Until then, vicarious enjoyment through others' reports. :-D Nice work devs, your reliability of development makes you pretty much super-human in the software world!
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) We see the same thing but interpret it differently then. I think I see what you're talking about now that I'm using a different monitor. It's nearly impossible to make out but I see the difference in shading you were describing. I'm sure the effect will be improved with panel lines/bump maps/skins. Edited February 16, 2017 by Space_Ghost
coconut Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Exciting news about VR and new planes coming out so fast! Regarding the Bf110 G2, I guess the devs prefer to keep a fast release schedule, and delay non-critical fixes to the next release. We are getting one release a month anyway, and I see the early access planes as being in beta until BOK comes out. I think it's OK if they aren't directly usable in combat when they first come out. 1
Gambit21 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Looking further, there's definitely some very nice and more difficult modeling happening with that A-20 compared to previous models. Well done. Edited February 16, 2017 by Gambit21
LLv24_Zami Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Now that my favourite flight sim will soon support VR, it is getting very interesting. Probably a must buy at some point.. Sadly SLI is not supported with virtual devices if I understand correctly. I have doubts that single gtx970 is not powerful enough in a game like this when using VR.
Missionbug Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 The A-20 is looking really good. This is the aircraft I am most looking forward to, it is going to seem a very long wait. Thank you very much for the update, really appreciated. Wishing you all the very best, Pete.
Finkeren Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Looking further, there's definitely some very nice and more difficult modeling happening with that A-20 compared to previous models. Well done. It looks so smooth. I've never been a huge fan of WW2 US aircraft designs, but the A-20 has always stood out to me as a really well-designed and beautifully proportioned plane.
