Battle of moscow

Hey guys, i recently purchased battle of Moscow and i had a few questions, i wasn't sure if this is the right place to post them,i have played all the sturmovik games and rise of flight, my questions are, on the map is there any way to move the minimap like we did in the old games? the map is in a strange spot and in the old games you could move it to the top of the screen or all the way in the corners, etc, in the minimap, where is my base or my runways? the map i play it shows what looks like a couple of little cars and then further down something like someone did some chicken scratch on it, not really sure what this means, both of the little cars and the chicken scratch are in red color if that means anything, also what are those yellow markers? i will follow them and when  i get there then another one shows up so i follow it and then it turns blue, what does this all mean?  also,in the old games i could get bearings from the control tower, is there any way of getting bearings in this game? sorry for all the questions I'm just kinda lost, thank you so much for your time

I don't use the minimap. I just use the map on the mission brief screen and bind it to a key I can readily hit. I think the default is "o".

The hollow circle icons with cars/tanks/etc are targets. Filled circles are airbase spawn locations. Inactive runways are just the runway picture on the map.

Yellow markers pop up in quick mission to show you where to go and are associated with the text that pops up. I don't know anything about them turning blue as I haven't ever followed them. Maybe yellow indicates climb and blue is descend?

You can get bearings using the radio beacon finders provided in some of the allied and axis planes. It will be on your top dash by the gunsight for Allies and at least on the Bf-110, it's just left of your gunsight in the instrument panel.

Welcome to the game and have fun! :)

Hey thank you so much, yeah i like the game, its real nice, a little weird to get into it at first,i got a new computer so it runs it just fine,i really would like a guide that explains the mapping settings, there is so many of them that sound so similar and some that make no sense just by the way they are worded, I'm sure this might be a Russian translation thing, for example in the realism settings the outside views are called spectators? i noticed when i Turned that off i could not see my outsides then i turned it back on and i could so spectators it is,lol

You're welcome

Yeah, it will just take trial and error.

The only keybindings I really play with though are ones for the aircraft. If you ever need to know which ones are needed to fly a given aircraft, then I can help.

Like I said, any time you need help on something, don't be afraid to ask!

Try to learn the default controls and just setup your joystick. Remapping everything in this sim would be a headache and a half.

Also make sure to adjust your camera speed settings. Like zoom speed and inertia etc.

The Yellow (sort of balloon form ones) are waypoints markers! The blue (same form) marker is the airfield to land to marker! Easy.

Hey guys, thanks a lot, yeah its been a bit of a challenge but I'm getting the hang of it,i do have a track ir so that makes a world of difference,i always see how people that dont like these sims or have a first bad experience are still playing without one of these, i know not everyone is made of money but if you can save a few bucks its a must have,i was playing a campaign today and i noticed the settings were either easy or hard, is there any way to check out certain things like in the old games, basically a custom profile? i like seeing my plane from the outside once in while specially if i paid good money for it but if i pick easy it wont let me, also when i picked the easy mode (im calling it that, i know its a different name) my throttle started going up and down on its own,did not like that at all,i know if you play just a mission you can fine tune your realism settings, why cant this be done in campaign? or can it?

Right now the campaign we have doesn't have the custom difficulty option.

The new career based on rise of flights career is coming in around October (maybe), until then you can try PWCG, you can fly custom difficulty level in there and its much much more in depth in terms of a "campaign"

:salute:

EDIT: make sure to turn off "generate climb waypoints" in PWCG, it'll make each mission considerably faster without pointless circling the airfield. (Unless you want that)

Here's a link for PWCG (Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator)

Cool man, i really appreciate it,when i was playing the campaign in the easy settings why was my airplane accelerating on its own,its that some kind of assist the game gives you in combat?

The only thing I've seen that might effect that is auto throttle. And that's not enabled on either normal or expert.

Maybe your throttle or rpm was turned up without realizing?

First thing I do before I start my engine is make sure my throttle is off.

or you have engine limiter turned on, which makes sure you don't over rev and blow your engine.

That might be it,what it would do is i would be flying and all of the sudden the numbers would start going up and then down and i would override it with my throttle settings but shortly after that it would do it again, its never done that when i played with my custom realism settings on missions so i assumed it had something to do with the campaign and what it forces you to play with since the settings are non negotiable, it only does it on easy and not on hard so it must be one of their settings. since your probably a player that plays with full realism then thats why maybe you might have not encountered it,who knows,i tried that PWCG, i really like it,very detailed, thank you for the tip!!

I am not 100% sure about this, and I can only guess in what situation this happened to you. But on "easy settings" you have auto RPM. So game is probably limiting you to continuous mode of close enough in approach, while cranking up full RPM in combat (that in turn enters boost mode on some planes if you slammed throttle all the way up).

This is just a guess but you can check my theory by looking at tacho difference in and out of the combat situations (or whenever that 'speed up' happens).
