IckyATLAS Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I wanted to shoot some sequences of GunCam type. I could not find a way to attach a free camera in a fixed position somwehere on a plane. The idea would be to position the camera level with the cannon to get a sequence during the flight. F2 command allows to have a free floating camera around the plane but you cannot fix it in the plane frame of reference. F11 allows for a fixed free camera but in the world frame of reference free of any object. Any idea if it is possible to attach a camera in a fixed way (position and orient) at a given moving object, train, plane , car, tank etc..
Frogface Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Alt + F2 to cycle through fixed cameras, one of them is pretty close to gun cam 1
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 if you really want you can maybe alter the camera settings in game folder and move it a bit
unreasonable Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Find data/luascripts/worldobjects/fixcameras/planes/whateverplaneyouwishto use.txt Make a backup, then: Open, under the first camera group modify the line that says position to read 3.0, 0.0, 0.0 Save. Access in game by using external view Alt F-2 2

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Hope these cameras are restricted and do not work in MP where externals are locked.
IckyATLAS Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Up to now I have not dived in the configuration files. Thanks for the info, I see that there are a lot of possibilities. Excellent.
curiousGamblerr Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Hope these cameras are restricted and do not work in MP where externals are locked. I think it's just adding more options to the Alt-F2 list, so I'm sure they're restricted just like other Alt+F2 views when external view is locked. That would be pretty crazy if locked external views could be hacked so easily. In any case, awesome news for video makers! Edited February 9, 2017 by 19.GIAP//curiousGamblerr
Rjel Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Is it possible to have the camera location locked so it has no rotation or elevation? As in a wing mounted gun camera that had a fixed forward view? If so, how?

Try this :https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/27659-guncam-it-possible/?do=findComment&comment=441000 Unless you access this view and move mouse around the recorded image is always forward, without plane parts, like a gun cam. Some guys place the camera in plane central line - il-2:46 style, but gun cam are mounted in wings, so not in plane center line. Edited March 11, 2017 by Sokol1 2
