ACG_Seb Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Hi, I love this Sim! I've been working my way through this amazing sim slowly and surely. I've got pretty good on normal but want to raise my game so have started playing in Expert. I've been working through the single player campaign. I on a escort mission for bombers flying for the Soviets in my Mig3. I can navigate without icons ok using land marks - however I have no idea what height I should be at each waypoint. Its important to know because the brief doesnt say if its low flying bombers or higher flying ones that I'm due to be escorting. This is of paticular importance if the visibility is poor or there is a low cloud base. In such missions I have no idea whether to fly beneath cloud base or above it.- I've checked the briefing screen and can not find any mention of height, Ive explored the briefing (i think) and click the waypoints in briefing before the flight but still I have no information at the altitude i should be at at any particular waypoint- what am i missing? I have checked the forum and not found an answer, I'm very sorry if this is a simple and silly request! Thank you Seb
Yogiflight Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 The bombers, you have to escort are over your airfield, in about 500m, when you takeoff. Just fly with them and choose your altitude yourself. I suppose, that russian bombers in escort missions will, like the german ones, climb to 2500m. 1

Thank You Yogiflight, that's really helpful, and will put it into practice. Do you know if there is a way to determine a waypoint's altitude? Thanks again! Seb

Yogiflight Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Important is, like Jordan mentioned, the altitude given in the briefing for the actionpoint, and, for missions where you either fly as an escort or with an escort, that you climb to 200m right after takeoff, because only then the other flight gets triggered. You will hear a message like 'I have reached mission area', when it is triggered. Otherwise they stay circling over your airfield. 1

Thank you both so much, Yogiflight, I hadnt been doing that (circling my airfield) - I'd been straight off naviating by land marks to first waypoint. That makes total sense. Thank you I'm grateful for your time!
