Addicted to IL-2 forums

So there's Facebook, instagram, twitter, and hundreds of other social media but the only one that I am ever checking is our IL-2 forums.

I honestly believe I log in to the forums 20+ times a day and spend countless hour's accumulated going through topics, maybe finding that one magical fix that will somehow zap me into the game like Tron...

You know, the next patch, the next graphical enhancement tweak, the next next next, and etc...

 

Am I addicted.

 

Or is it insanity?

It's a worth reading Forum and subforums actually, with lot's of interesting debate and above all, one of the best ways to keep in touch with this great flight simulator which, after a few cycles, has become my only flight simulator apart from ELITE IFR :-)

I don't participate in any social media. No facebook, nothing.

The only exception is this forum. I'm enjoying it reading through the countless interesting threads and the folks here are really nice.

It's the best flightsim forum arround and though I'm also registered at DCS and SimHQ, I can't stand the bad atmosphere overe there.

Ya been on these forum's since I accidentally stumbled across the origional il2.

 

Is there ever a Sim-Con or something where simmers all get together and we have a huge lan based all out competition on provided monster build pcs.

Im from old school. All of those facebooks and whatnot are of no interest to me. Lots of folks around me think that Im weird and asocial. I dont give an F I meet with people I care about personally and exchange news and yada-yada like a man,with jug of beer in front of me and few shots inbetween to spice the meeting up. This forum is quite nice place to spend time while having nothing else to do. It doesnt try to look like place for elitarists. Its for common virtual pilots and majority of folks here are relaxed adults not taking this game too seriously...because its just the computer game (whatever label is tried to be applied on it).

This - and RoF, although that is now slowly dying - are my favourite forums too.   It gets checked with my morning coffee before I read the papers. I also have no inclination to use any of the trendy "social" media.

 

This is usually a good place, a good combination of information about the development of the game and community made videos, utilities, links to sites of interest and so on.

 

In addition there are debates about about history, aviation - and FMs!  Sometimes these get silly when people get personal - but often they motivate me to learn about issues that I would otherwise never have investigated.

 

I play other games as much as I "fly" - but hardly ever use their forums except to solve some particular issue.

Not so much of this or other forums, but I got to admit a heated devotion for the development of this sim. And I sort of feel a win. We got the JU 52 , the HS 129. is coming.

And suddenly there are some punk not sharing your opinion! Is that possible? you ask, beat me, I thought everyone agreed in the inter web. 

The more this game getting developed the more you want to add, no mind for budget , I just pour it out. No I am not adicted, enthusiastic one day, and frustrated the other.

I'm here a lot too since coming to BoS in October. I am very much a "self educator" and find untold riches in the info I find here. Aside from a few spats and quarrels (like is found most every flight sim community), this really is a decent and helpful community. I spend a lot of time reading the forums at work when it's slow.

So that's 24, 720 minutes.

or 412 hours

or 17.16 days (24 hour days)

 

 

I did that to someone else on another forum some years ago.

It came to something like 3 months - solid.

Not really, I'm actually happily married with two wonderful children and working two jobs. It's just that one of those jobs involve a lot of "down time", where I just have to pass the time, some of which I spend here.

I'm not addicted anyways - I'm around these boards every day, several times a day and have been doing compulsively so for a very long time... and I'm still not addicted.   right?
